How long snow will last in your area as Brits are hit with snow bomb

You may have woken up this morning to a white back garden and a big pile of snow on top of your car.

The UK has indeed been hit with a huge snow bomb that may have caught a few Brits off guard after a relatively warm winter so far.

The Met Office has issued yellow weather warnings for snow and ice, with Scotland, Northern Ireland, and the north of England the most affected areas.

On their official website, they state that: "Further snow showers, perhaps merging into a longer spell of snow, are likely to cause further disruption on Tuesday."

Following snowy conditions, many Brits will be eager to find out if there is more cold weather on the way before the end of winter.

Met Office spokesperson Stephen Dixon spoke to LADbible about what to expect over the coming days and weeks.

She said: "A Northernly airflow has brought very cold Arctic air over much of the UK, which has sent temperatures plummeting.

"They're going to continue to stay relatively low for this time of year for the next few days."

So the cold weather is set to continue for the duration of this week, but which area will experience the most snowfall?

Dixon revealed: "By the end of the week, the highest accumulation will most likely be in the north west of Scotland, which could see an excess of 40cm of snow."

The Met Office stated that this week, we can expect 'sleet and snow clearing northern areas leading to an ice risk' and 'clear skies elsewhere with a widespread severe frost'.

So the south of England may be getting the best weather in the country, depending on which way you look at it. They will be missing out on the magic of a snowy morning.

Stephen Dixon continued: "As we get towards the weekend, we will see a bit of transition in the weather that will bring milder air over the UK, but also wet and windy weather to the UK."

So no snowy weekend then.

Let's look past this week then, perhaps there's a cold February on the way

"As we get towards early February, there is a chance that it could be cold in interludes, but still some wet and windy weather about," Stephen explained.

Unfortunately we might just have seen the majority of snowy weather this winter, with the majority UK set to go back to its dull, windy ways.
