Everyone knows that Australia is a country with a high concentration of animals that are either deadly or straight-up terrifying. But it's always handy to be reminded of the vast array of horror film-esque things that could make their way into your home at night.
Like this Golden Orb-Weaving spider found in Queensland.
This bad boy was discovered in the state's south-east and it's going viral on social media for representing just another nope that exists in Australia.

While there is an element of forced perspective in the photo uploaded to Reddit, it's still an absolute monster.
These spiders build sticky webs that pick up flies, beetles, locusts, wood moths and cicadas. The species has been known to eat small birds and bats that end up getting tangled in their web as well, which is a lovely thought.
Several much smaller males will usually live on the fringes of a female's web, hoping for a mating opportunity. So it's likely the Orb-Weaver in the picture above is female.
Thankfully, they're not too harmful to humans, according to the Australian Museum.

"Orb weavers are reluctant to bite," the site states. "Symptoms are usually negligible or mild local pain, numbness and swelling. Occasionally nausea and dizziness can occur after a bite."
While they might not administer a toxic venom that kills us quickly, their size is enough to terrify the pants off most Australians.
Since the humungous spider went viral on Reddit, people have been sharing their experiences of running (sometimes literally) into them and honestly we can't say 'burn it with fire' quicker.
One person said: "I was running at Cape Hillsborough near Mackay a couple of years ago. These guys put their webs just about head height all along the trails.

"This time I was looking down and ran headlong into the yellow, sticky web. I could feel giant legs crawling on my head. Lots of screaming and trashing my head in a nearby bush ensued. I have never been more terrified in my life."
Another added: "Once I was throwing a ball around on the street with my friend at dusk. Turned dark pretty quickly, and there were no street lights.
"I miss a catch completely and the ball goes over near an alleyway. I sprint to go get it, then it hit me. Literally I mean it hit me. I ran full speed into a golden orb spider. I couldn't even see it but I knew exactly what I had run into."
Yeah, we'll pass thanks.
