Disney+ have dropped a trailer for the new series of Doctor Who, starring Ncuti Gatwa as the new Doctor.

The show will return with Ncuti Gatwa at the helm of the TARDIS, as the Sex Education star takes on the iconic role.

Taking over from Jodie Whittaker in the full time role, Gatwa's series will also see the return of iconic Doctor Who show-runner Russell T Davies.
Gatwa has followed up his roles in Sex Education and Barbie with a charismatic debut as the Doctor in the most recent Christmas special.
The Scottish-Rwandan star wowed as the Doctor in 'The Church on Ruby Road'.
Starring opposite Gatwa will be Millie Gibson, playing the companion Ruby Sunday, around whom the Christmas special revolved.
With various mysteries surrounding her identity introduced, the show is sure to be a classic Who adventure.

Whilst Gatwa will be taking over from Whittaker in the full time position as The Doctor, David Tennant was the most recent actor to inhabit the role prior to Gatwa.
In Ncuti Gate's brief introduction in 'The Giggle', he 'bi-generated' from David Tennant' - which was the first time this has occurred in the history of Doctor Who.
This means that, whilst Ncuti Gatwa will play the mainline Doctor, Tennant's Doctor remains out there somewhere.
The creatives behind the show have remained tight lipped about what this means for the future, but you'd expect Tennant to reappear at some point.

Fans are understandably hyped for the show, with one posting on X (formerly known as Twitter): "I was skeptical about Ncuti Gatwa as the Doctor, but he seems to fit the role perfectly."
The show takes on a higher budget feel than before, thanks in part to the show's recent collaboration with Disney+.
Whilst the BBC have retained the rights to the show, Disney+ will be the exclusive streamer of the show in America.

Doctor Who focused writer Max Kashevsky was full of praise for the trailer.
He posted on X: "Easily one of the best Doctor Who trailers ever. Instantly tells you who these weirdos are, what their weirdo box is, all the weirdo places they're gonna go. Doesn't matter how big or small the budget is: 'Doctor Who is WEIRD' is the only selling point we ever needed."
Based on the incredibly fun Christmas special and this great trailer, we couldn't agree more.
Doctor Who is set to release on May 11 of this year.
