People Are Betting Money On Sam Fender Headlining Next Glastonbury After Epic Performance

People Are Betting Money On Sam Fender Headlining Next Glastonbury After Epic Performance

It was his first time at the festival and he kicked it out of the park!

Sam Fender absolutely killed it tonight (24 June) when he played his first-ever Glastonbury on the iconic Pyramid stage.

This came three years after he sadly had to pull out for medical reasons on the advice of his doctors, but he smashed it. Watch below:

Speculating that the 28-year-old singer will be returning as a headliner, one fan tweeted: "Won't be long until Sam Fender headlines for sure. Fantastic."

A second wrote: "Putting £20 on now that Sam Fender will headline Glastonbury 2024."

"This kid is gonna headline one day, no bother," speculated a third fan.

A fourth gushed: "@samfendermusic unreal set at #glastonburyfestival2022 he’s defo a future headline act in my eyes. Class [sic]."

Meanwhile, a fifth fan thought that the 'Spit of You' singer should have been headlining tonight.

They wrote: "Sam fender at Glastonbury. Should of been the headline for me..what a performance [sic]."

Another fan agreed, writing: "How Sam fender isn’t the headline act tonight ill never know [sic]!"

One fan who threatened to riot if Fender doesn't get the headline spot next year.

"Sam Fender should headline Glastonbury next year. If he doesn’t, we riot," they wrote.

As if all of this wasn't already exciting enough, tonight Fender revealed that he'd be spending his entire weekend at Glastonbury!

Fender himself took to social media earlier today to share his excitement about playing Glastonbury for the first time.

He wrote: "I’ve always wanted to go to @glastonbury and always dreamed of playing the pyramid stage as a young lad. Tomorrow, I'll do both.

"See you down the front at 8.15pm."

Instead of Fender headlining tonight, the festival will see its youngest-ever headliner later tonight – Billie Eilish.

"I feel I owe it to everyone to put on a good show," the singer told NME. "I'm so honoured to be a part of it."

Eilish explained that as an American, she didn't realise how important Glastonbury is to British music fans.

She explained: "It's heart-warming to see how much people care about it and think that this is going to be the best weekend of their lives."

Music fans will undoubtedly be especially excited to attend this year's Glastonbury as the festival was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

It will also be a special weekend for Fender, who wanted to debut in 2020, but he was unable to for the same reason.

Will you be betting on Fender as a future Glasto headliner?!
