Chet Hanks, the son of Hollywood royalty Tom Hanks, has come away from the Golden Globes as an unlikely talking point, having amazed and confused the public in equal measure with his impression of a Jamaican accent.
Chet, who recently featured in TV series Empire and has previously come under fire for using the 'N'-word, was stopped on the red carpet for a quick chat, but turned to the camera and started chatting away in a Jamaican accent.

He said: "Big up the whole island massive, it's your boy Chet coming straight from the Golden Globes."
One viewer at home tweeted the clip, asking: "Why is Tom Hanks' son Chet Hanks speaking patois?"
While some people online were almost impressed by his efforts, most found the whole thing pretty awkward.
One person commented: "He really thinks he's everything but white."

Another said: "Don't ever do that again please."
But 29-year-old Chet clearly wasn't too embarrassed about his attempt, also sharing the footage on Instagram and writing: "BIG UP FIMI WHOL FAMILY SOON COM AT DI AWARDS NA SEEN. CHUNE IN."

While some Instagrammers found the skit hilarious, not everyone was amused by Chet's Jamaican drawl.
Responding to the online attention his Golden Globes video drew, Chet also posted another video - supposedly from Smoothie King on Rodeo Drive - speaking in a Jamaican accent once again.
"RESPECT TO MI ISLAND MASSIVE," he wrote.

Chet is one of 63-year-old Tom's four kids, and was lucky to be at the awards ceremony when his father received the Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award.
Picking up the accolade, the veteran actor told the audience: "I have a cold the size of Merv Griffin's Jeopardy! royalties.
"Showing up on time is one of the greatest and most liberating acts you can give yourself in a movie."
He also paid tribute to his family, saying: "A man is blessed with a family sitting down front like that - a wife who is fantastic in every way, who has taught me what love is... five kids who are braver and stronger and wiser than their old man.

"And a loving group of people who have put away with me being away months and months at a time. Of course, otherwise I wouldn't be standing here if they didn't have to put up with that. I can't tell you how much your love means to me."
The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), the organisation responsible for the award, said that it was 'proud' to honour Hank's movie legacy.
HFPA President Lorenzo Soria said: "For more than three decades, he's captivated audiences with rich and playful characters.
"As compelling as he is on the silver screen, he's equally so behind the camera as a writer, producer and director."
