Amy Schumer Accused Of ‘Stealing’ A Joke She Used At The Oscars From Twitter

Amy Schumer has been accused of 'stealing' a joke from Twitter to use during her Oscars opening monologue.
The Trainwreck star found herself in hot water after fans discovered her Leonardo DiCaprio line was nearly identical to tweet made last year.

In her Oscars monologue, Amy said: "Leonardo DiCaprio, what can I say about him? He has done so much to fight climate change and leave behind a cleaner, greener planet for his girlfriends."
The joke prompted huge laughs from people in the audience, with many people left with mouths agape over the savage burn.
However, it seems like this line is eerily similar to a tweet made last year on Twitter.
A user wrote in December: "Leonardo DiCaprio is so passionate about climate change because he wants to leave a better word [sic] for his girlfriends."
I mean...
One person on Twitter wrote: "Amy Schumer steals jokes from Twitter users now, not just from other comedians."
Another added: "Sir, I have witnessed a robbery in broad daylight."
However people on social media have also pointed out how jokes about Leonardo DiCaprio and his partners have been a hot topic at loads of awards shows.
I've heard so many versions of this joke over the years. Leo and his girlfriends are an easy target for comedians. Telling a really obvious joke that literally anyone could make is not the same thing as stealing a joke.

Some perspective. Comedians, writers, musicians have to try to make new material that hasnt been done, but eventually youll end up replicating some 1 elses work accidentally. Happens in music all the time bc every 1 uses the same basic chords over & over.

Turns out this wasn't the only Schumer joke that ruffled a few feathers at the 94th Academy Awards.
One jibe in particular aimed at actor Kirsten Dunst had tongues wagging and not in a good way.
She started off the 'bit' by telling the audience: “Okay it takes 27,000 people to put on the Oscars and every job is equally important.
“Okay, the gaffers. The camera people. The seat fillers. Everybody, alright. So, what the seat fillers do. I hear you seat fillers – I’ll just explain what you do.
“So, when you get up to go to the bathroom, or if you’re going to cry because you didn’t win...”
Amy then turned to address Jesse Plemons, who was sat on a table with his partner, Kirsten Dunst.
The 40-year-old continued: “Actually, let me just show you what seat fillers do.”

Pointing to Kirsten, she says: “Okay, here’s a seat filler. Can we get you up, honey? Do you want to go to the bathroom? OK? Let’s just get you up.”
The audience erupted in laughter as a puzzled-looking Kirsten gets up from her chair and moves to the side.
Amy takes that as her queue to sit down and address Jesse.
“Seat fillers, love them,” she says, before adding: “Jesse, I loved you in Power of the Dog.”
An equally puzzled-looking Jesse then says: “Uh, you know that was my wife, Amy.” Eek.
Don't fret over it though as The Independent has revealed the Bring It On star was in on the joke the whole time.
