YouTuber comes under fire for ‘living like Jeffrey Dahmer for a day’

YouTuber comes under fire for ‘living like Jeffrey Dahmer for a day’

A YouTuber tried 'living like Jeffrey Dahmer for a day' and there's been significant backlash

A YouTuber who pretended to act like serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer and went around in a blonde wig has come in for serious criticism.

The serial killer was recently the subject of a Netflix drama, with someone who encountered Dahmer saying Evan Peters captured the 'monster' that he was with his 'spot on' performance.

It's thrust the monstrous serial killer, who drugged and murdered 17 men and boys, back into the public eye and YouTuber DuB Family decided to make a video about it.

In the video the YouTuber put on a wig and recreated some scenes from the Netflix show, including the moment where he poisons a drink and offers it to his victims.

He was also filmed going out and about telling people he was Jeffrey Dahmer, with some recognising his attempts to pretend to be the notorious serial killer.

In the video he explained who Dahmer was, saying: "It’s about him, you know, doing monstrous things - people being a cannibal and stuff like that but I just really honestly believed that he was just misconstrued.

"Like he grew up wrong and it was just like that was the only way that he could tame it."

Lots of the YouTuber's fans thought this was over the line when it came to the boundaries of taste and decency.

One person commented 'don't take it wrong, but this one just isn't for me', noting that 'there are families still haunted by these terrible murders'.

Another said it 'feels kinda weird laughing and making jokes about it' given how 'real' Dahmer's crimes were, while a third said 'y'all have no respect for the families of these victims'.

That the YouTuber shouldn't have made the video was a common theme among the comments, with many more posting to say they thought it was insensitive to the families of those the serial killer murdered.

Someone else said 'y'all wouldn't think it's cute' if they'd been family to one of Dahmer's victims, while another said 'imagine someone making a skit about the person who killed your brother'.

More criticism poured in as others said 'it's not a f***ing joke' and another suggested the YouTuber should have 'kept this one in the vault' rather than publishing it on the site.

Others said the YouTuber was 'gonna get cancelled after this'.

Meanwhile, some viewers found the video funny, commenting that the video was 'top tier' and encouraging others to 'chill'.

In response to the backlash the YouTuber posted a comment of their own telling people they should 'stop taking everything so serious, and laugh more'.
