Ray Winstone tells Harry Kane 'f*** em' and to wear OneLove armband

Ray Winstone has urged England captain Harry Kane to wear a OneLove armband during the World Cup, using some very colourful language.

The FA came in for a fair bit of flak yesterday after it was announced that Kane and Welsh captain Gareth Bale wouldn’t be wearing the armbands due to the threat of sanctions by FIFA - you can find out what Winstone had to say about that here:

Speaking after England’s first game - and first win - of the tournament yesterday, Kane said he was ‘disappointed’ that he had been told he couldn’t wear one of the armbands, which are designed to show solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community, but claimed it was ‘out of [his] control as players’.

Kane said: “We’re disappointed. I said yesterday we wanted to wear it. That decision was taken out of my hands today.

"I turned up to the stadium with the armband that I wore and I was told I had to wear that [the official FIFA one]. It’s out of our control as players.

"I’m sure the FA and Fifa will continue those discussions but most importantly today we focused on the game and got a great result.”

And Kane isn’t the only one who wasn’t impressed with the move - Sexy Beast star Winston took to Instagram to say: “England’s first game in the World Cup today, and I don’t know what it is, but I’m not that excited. I can’t seem to get up for it.

“Is it because it’s in Qatar? Dunno. Should it be in Qatar? No, no it shouldn’t.”

He then went on to urge Kane to wear the armband regardless.

“Harry Kane has been told he can’t wear a captain’s armband that is rainbow colours,” Winstone continued.

“Usually, I wouldn’t take a lot of notice of that, but Harry, you can’t let them tell you what to do. F**k ’em. Wear the armband.

“They’re going to book you. If they book you, f**k ’em. They’ll probably send you off. And if they do, f**k ’em again. Wear the armband, kid.”

Winston also took aim at FIFA president Gianni Infantino who appeared to compare growing up with red hair to the struggles faced by migrant workers and members of the LGBTQ+ community.

Winston added: “And this prick who’s in charge of FIFA, he was bullied at school because he was ginger – and he feels like a migrant worker, he feels gay.”

He finished his little speech on a more hopeful note, saying: “I hope England win. I hope they win the World Cup. And I’m sure as the tournament goes on I’ll get more excited about it.”
