England fans have been at the pub since 5:45am for opening game

Crowds packed into the Essex pub early this morning ahead of England's first game of the World Cup

A crowd of England fans have been at the pub since 5:45am ahead of the team's first match of the World Cup in Qatar.

Ricky Hughes and his mates recently wrote an alternative anthem to get the Three Lions geared up for the controversial tournament. You can check it out here:

And they invited dozens of fellow supporters down to their local boozer this morning (21 November) to get ready for England's match against Iran at 1:00pm.

While most of us woke up at a pretty reasonable time, and might just be about to get to the pub, he thought it would be much better to get there very early doors for a good old sing song and to sink a couple of pints before the match.

Speaking to LADbible about how he came up with the track 'Stick Another Star On The Shirt', the 48-year-old said: "So we watched the girls lift the trophy in July, and I thought to myself, well, football's come home now, so it's time for a new England song.

"I racked my brain and thought about everything I loved about the World Cup as a kid, the sticker albums and the iconic retro shirts, and I came up with the idea of 'Stick Another Star On The Shirt', as a title.

"And we took it into the studio and recorded it. And then we've, we've had so much community involvement done. It's been amazing."

But while Ricky wasn't sure people would fancy getting up at the crack of dawn to get down to the pub, he was very wrong.

The turnout this morning was huge, with dozens of people packing into the King's Arms in Essex.

"We were worried at one point that we wouldn't be able to fill the pub," he said. "But then people came out, wanting to be on the telly, we had a lot of kids from the video come down, and I come from a big family, so I brought a load of people.

"It's just mayhem here since quarter to six in the morning, with people singing our song."

All music sales, streams and downloads of their track will go to the Jeff Astle foundation.

If you're gonna be watching the lads this afternoon, Uri Geller is urging you to do everything you can to help the team to victory.

Speaking to the Daily Star, the 75-year-old psychic said if we follow his strict instructions, England will have a great chance of taking all three points. Right then.

He said: "To all the English players and fans, this is what you should do…

"Create a target goal in your mind and word it clearly. Repeat the target over and over, believe that you are going to win, and forbid any other ideas from distracting you.

“Imagine how you will feel when England wins and visualise the details vividly.

“Shout and speak clearly, don't mumble. How else do you expect the team to feel you and hear you?”

We're sure it will work.
