Nineteen year-old Diane Parry has shocked tennis fans at this year’s French Open by beating the tournament’s defending champion, Barbora Krejcikova.
Parry’s win has caused the biggest upset of the French Open thus far, knocking the reigning champion out in the first round of the tournament.

The French teen beat Krejcikova in three sets. After losing the first set 1-6, Parry harnessed the strength to come back fighting to win the second set and she only dropped two games.
What is even more shocking, is that Krejcikova is currently ranked world number 2 and by comparison, Parry is ranked world number 97.
Parry is now set to play the twenty-year old Colombian, Camila Osorio, in the next round of the Grand Slam, on Wednesday May 25th. Osorio is currently ranked at number 66 in the world; however, she had a career high of 33, compared to Parry’s career high of 96.
However, after her performance today, Parry’s ability to progress in the tournament mustn’t be underestimated.
