Cristiano Ronaldo becomes the first man in history to score at five different World Cups

Cristiano Ronaldo becomes the first man in history to score at five different World Cups

The Portuguese player has added another impressive record to his collection.

It's official: Cristiano Ronaldo is the first player ever to score in five consecutive World Cups.

Despite having his Manchester United contract terminated, Ronaldo has yet again proved why he is one of the greatest football players of all time.

The Portuguese player added the impressive record to his collection during his team's opener against Ghana, in which his home country won 3-2.

The Portugal captain had a goal disallowed in the first half, but that wasn't going to stop him from pushing forward for the personal win and victory for his country.

He won a controversial penalty in the 65th minute, after going down under a challenge from a Ghana defender.

He smashed the goal through to the back of the net past Lawrence Ati-Zigi.

Naturally, he spun away and busted out his iconic SIUU celebration to mark the historic goal.

The goal harks back to Ronaldo's first World Cup goal, which was also a penalty.

The first goal sailed past the goalkeeper 16 years ago against Iran at the 2006 in Germany.

And, more than a decade and a half later, he's still finding the net all at the age of 37.

But, despite Ronaldo and Portugal's win, Ghana put up a hell of a fight.

The West African nation levelled the playing field in the 73rd minute with a goal by former Swansea and West Ham striker Andre Ayew.

But that victory was short-lived, with Atletico Madrid star Joao Felix taking back the lead for Portugal minutes later.

Rafael Leao then kicked his-ever first World Cup goal, giving Portugal an even bigger 3-1 lead.

Ghana's Osman Bukari then scaled back the deficit between the warring nations with with a header that saw the goal sail through to victory,

But the real kicker came after the goal.

Bukari proceeded to mock Ronaldo's SIUUU celebration, leaving the Portuguese captain seething.

Ronaldo was sat on the bench after being substituted at the time.

The cameras immediately panned to the star player and he was visibly livid, despite Portugal still in the lead at a tasty 3-2.

But, despite the cheeky celebration from Bukari of Red Star Belgrade, Portugal ultimately took home the victory with the final whistle sounding victory with the score still sitting at 3-2.

Despite Ronaldo's personal and national win, the star player is still yet to score in a knockout stage fixture, with all of his World Cup strikes coming through in the group stages.
