Chris Eubank says he 'lives inside his son' as he mourns tragic death

Sebastian died last year following a 'massive heart attack'

Chris Eubank has said that he lives 'inside' his son following his untimely death last year.

Former middleweight champion Eubank lost his son Sebastian last year, and in an emotional interview, he opened up about how he remains a part of his life each day.

Watch here:

Sebastian - who was also a boxer - died in Dubai last summer after suffering a 'massive heart attack' while swimming in the sea, just weeks before his 30th birthday and weeks after he became a father.

Eubank discussed the tragic loss with Rob Moore, opening up about the 'hurt' and stating that he lives 'in him'.

"I wear my son's watch," the 56-year-old said. "My son Sebastian.

"It doesn't even work, but it works for me."

He added: "He's also my night clothes. I wear him at night... I'm inside him. That's how I work."

Eubank said he wears Sebastian's broken watch.

Following Sebastian's death, Eubank issued a statement which said his son had left behind 'his wife Salma, his son Raheem born just a month ago, his mother Karron Meadows, brothers Nathanael, Chris, Jr, Joseph, one sister Emily and countless relatives and friends'.

"Never did I ever imagine I would write these words or experience the feeling I now have at the loss of my son," Eubank said.

He added that the family was devastated at the loss of Sebastian, who grew up in Hove but had been living in Dubai, where he was 'a leader in the adoption of a healthy lifestyle and of alternative therapies'.

The statement continued: "As well as being a personal trainer and professional boxer, Sebastian was also a deep thinker who liked to challenge accepted wisdom.

"He was loved and respected by all who knew him and will be forever in the thoughts of friends and family. As a family we now kindly ask to be given space and privacy to celebrate his life and remember the son, the brother, the husband, the friend."

Eubank has said that he will never get over the loss.

Sebastian - who boxed using the name Alka Lion - made his debut in February 2018 against Polish fighter Kamil Kulczyk, before making his MMA debut in 2020.

His widow Salma Abdelati said in a statement that a Dubai coroner had found evidence that Sebastian had a pre-existing heart condition that his family was unaware of.

She thanked authorities for a swift investigation and said she was grateful that her husband had been able to spend 'a few short and happy weeks' with their newborn son.
