UK cannabis clinic delivers weed straight to your door

The private clinic specialises in cannabis-based prescriptions

A few years ago, the idea of getting weed delivered to your door would have seemed pretty ridiculous.

But in 2018, following the outrage over the treatment of 12-year-old Billy Caldwell, who desperately needed the drug to treat his epilepsy, it became a reality.

Since then, thousands of people across the country have been able to get cannabis on prescription, helping them deal with a variety of conditions, whether it's chronic pain, cancer, or neurological.

And in a bid to make the process as easy as possible, Mamedica allows people to get it sent straight to their home in no time.

According to NICE, 28 million suffered from chronic pain last year.

Mamedica is looking to raise awareness and offer a legal alternative to those who are currently accessing their medication through 'illicit means'.

Speaking to LADbible, managing director Jon Robson, who founded the company in 2021, says 'chronic pain is the leading symptom for medical cannabis prescriptions'.

Mamedica's prescribed products - which range from oils to cannabis flowers - help relieve pain, improve sleep and balance mood, Jon says.

He claims that 'some strains can produce uplifting effects, while others may act as sedatives'.

"Following your consultation, our pharmacy team will be in touch to confirm your order and request payment," Jon explains.

"Patients can expect medication to be delivered via secure courier within three to four working days.

"There are many potential benefits to medical cannabis treatment, and our doctors will work with each patient to determine the best course of treatment for their individual needs."

Mamedica is a private clinic with a linked pharmacy which specialises in cannabis-based prescriptions for patients searching for medication across pain, psychiatry, neurology, palliative care, and cancer.

The company claims to offer a 24/7 patient support service, while delivery is promised to be quick and discreet.

Jon says the 'aim is to offer an alternative to conventional medicines to individuals who are struggling with a severe medical condition and desire to regain a sense of normalcy in their daily lives'.

Someone who's benefited from the change in law is Daniel.

Having been diagnosed with ADHD in October last year, he was transferred to a prescription a couple of months ago.

And the 34-year-old says had a massive impact on his life, helping him to balance his career and family commitments.

While admitting he used to 'self-medicate via the black market', Daniel is now grateful weed is more accessible to people like him.

"I see a specialist psychiatric doctor for regular check-ups who is incredible. I also have spoken with another doctor from the team just to check in with me with how I’m getting on with my medication or if I have any questions," he said.

"Unlike other clinics, I’m not limited to what cannabis prescription options I can choose, and I can pick from irradiated and non-irradiated options. I talk with the doctor and we both explore what could work for me and my condition.

"Receiving medical cannabis from Mamedica is great because it’s led by a team of doctors, and I know exactly what I’ll be receiving in the post each month."

Daniel says that the Mamedica access scheme costs him roughly £200 a month for a 'relatively average' dosage.

"There's no consultation fees or repeat fees, so I just pay for my medicine," he says.

"It’s a simple service, I see it the same way as if I were to do my monthly food shop via a supermarket - it’s as fundamental to my health as buying food."

The company are looking to raise awareness amongst those who are currently accessing their medication through illicit means and are 'unaware of the legal pathway that is available'.

As you might expect, Daniel believes that recreational weed 'should be legalised' because 'it's a plant that can help so many people'.

"If we legalised it, there wouldn’t be such a heavy focus on high THC and potency like there is with grey market consumption," he said.

"We wouldn’t have the issue of it being something taboo. Statistics show as soon as something becomes legalised, the interest around it reduces.

"The demand reduces as does the criminal activity. I personally would love to see more education, less stigma and greater awareness of medical cannabis."
