People are calling Cristiano Ronaldo a 'hypocrite' after an old Coca-Cola advert has emerged showing him whole-heartedly endorsing the brand. This comes after he removed two Coke bottles from a Euro 2020 press conference and told viewers, 'Drink water!' Watch below:

The advert, which shows him superimposed on Coke cans in a fridge while kicking an ice cube around, is from 2006, when he was part of the brand's advertising campaign.

But social media users have called the footballer out, after he removed bottles of the refreshment from in front of him in a Euro 2020 press conference yesterday (14 June), before declaring: "Drink water!"

Some think it's 'hypocritical' of him to tell people not to drink the carbonated drink, when he himself helped to promote it:

A YouTuber shared shots from his time as a representative of the company, saying:

But some have disagreed with the idea that he shouldn't tell fans to drink water.

One said: "To be fair bro this is a pic obviously from back in 2006 or some s***. What he did was still correct."

Another added: "Someone obviously can't change their mind on a drink in 15 years, that's far too little time!"

You can watch Ronaldo's Coca-Cola ad below:

The 36-year-old is still regarded as one of the best footballers in the world, in large part because he keeps himself in tip-top condition.

Evidently tournament sponsor Coca-Cola isn't part of his very strict diet, and so the Portugal captain moved two bottles placed in front of him to the side, instead holding aloft his water and proclaiming 'Agua!' - which is 'water' in Portuguese.

Ronaldo recently opened up about the strict diet he follows to keep in shape.

Speaking to ESPNFC, he said that a typical day involves two lunches and two dinners.

He'll start his day with ham and cheese and a side of yogurt, before snacking on avocado on toast when he gets hungry later in the morning.

His first lunch will be chicken and salad, his second usually some sort of fish.

Then for dinner he'll have two meals of either fish or meat.

We'd imagine he sticks strictly to water beverage wise, judging from his reaction at the press conference.
