A man has been charged with attempted murder after an incident at the highest pub in England, police have said.
The Tan Hill Inn is famous for being incredibly high up in the Yorkshire Dales, and hit the news a few years ago when a number of people – as well as an Oasis tribute band – became stranded in the pub for several days because of heavy snowfall.
A man in his 40s suffered serious injuries to his arm during the incident, which took place at around 22:40 on Friday evening at the pub.

Another man has been charged with assault and attempted murder as well as firearms offences after an incident at the pub.
North Yorkshire Police said that a 46-year-old man was remanded in custody and is expected to appear at York Magistrates’ Court later on Monday (24 July).
He has also been charged with causing actual bodily harm and battery, North Yorkshire Police confirmed.

A woman has also been arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm.
She has been released on bail pending further inquiries from police.
The victim was taken to hospital after the incident, but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
There were a number of people in the pub at the time of the incident taking place, and police have appealed for anyone with any information or having witnessed the incident to come forward to them.

The Tan Hill Inn sits at 1,732 feet above sea level near to Langthwaite, Richmond.
The pub dates back to the 17th century and used to provide a hostelry for local miners within the area.
Though now almost totally isolated, the pub used to be surrounded by cottages.

In 1995, the Tan Hill became the first pub to gain a licence to hold weddings and civil ceremonies.
Punters celebrating New Year’s Eve in the pub back in 2009 ended up stranded for three days as a result of heavy snowfall, before it hit the headlines once again in November 2021 when Storm Arwen kept patrons trapped within the pub for a weekend.
After that, the people who were trapped had a reunion at the pub the following December, this time managing to avoid becoming trapped.

The pub sits within the parliamentary constituency of Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, who has been the MP for Richmond – the Yorkshire one – since 2015.
