Mark Zuckerberg is now a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

Facebook and Meta's co-founder praised his coach and said he has learned so much about 'fighting and life'.

Mark Zuckerberg has just been promoted to a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

Taking to social media, the co-founder of Facebook and Meta wrote: “Honoured to be promoted to compete at blue belt for Guerrilla San Jose team.”

His coach, David Camarillo, was also awarded a fifth degree black belt.

“You’re a great coach and I’ve learned so much about fighting and life from training with you,” wrote Zuckerberg.

Camarillo replied: “Absolutely honoured to know you and learn from you. Thank you for your support and your amazing display of discipline!”

Actor and fellow Brazilian Jiu Jitsu champion Tom Hardy left a comment congratulating Zuckerberg on the achievement.

However, it’s not the first time Zuckerberg’s jiu jitsu abilities have made headlines, as earlier this year the tech-billionaire competed in a Jiu Jitsu tournament in California.

He later revealed in a podcast with Lex Fridman that he attended the tournament completely undercover so no one would recognise him.

“I rolled up with a hat and sunglasses and COVID-mask,” he said.

“It wasn’t until I pulled all that stuff off right before I got on the mat that I think people knew it was me.”

“I think so many of the things that we’re doing, whether it's this or running the company, it’s like we just take on new adventures.”

A shirtless Zuckerberg also appeared next to UFC Champion Israel Adesanya in a recent post on the UFC Champion’s Twitter, so he’s clearly been training hard.

There are five different belt colours in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, beginning with a white belt, then moving up to blue, purple, brown and then the conveted black belt.

It can take upwards of 10 years for someone to achieve a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

The news comes as Zuckerberg and fellow tech-billionaire and Musk have apparently agreed to a fight.

After calling Zuckerberg a 'cuck' in one of his tweets, Musk challenged the Facebook CEO to a cage fight.

Zuckerberg, all trained up and ready to fight, replied: “Send me the location.”

Tensions between the two seemingly worsened with the release of Meta’s Threads, which is a rival app to Musk’s Twitter (now X).

While there’s no official date set for their fight, one thing for sure: Watch out Elon, Zuck is on the rise.
