Fans 'uncomfortable' after awkward moment between reporter and Raheem Sterling

Awkward is one word for it.

Post-match interviews can always create some interesting moments, but this chat has left Chelsea fans feeling quite uncomfortable.

Footage of an awkward encounter between Raheem Sterling and Sky Sports reporter Patrick Davidson has gone viral.

Take a look here:

Following Chelsea's 4-4 draw with Manchester City, the 28-year-old was being quizzed alongside Cole Palmer.

While the discussion was underway, Sterling began to squint and looked visibly uncomfortable.

The interviewer clocked this and quickly diverted from his question to check on the England star.

"Is there something in your eye? What's going on here," Davidson said.

Sterling continued to try and sort his visual problem out by wiping his eye with his shirt, although it didn't seem to work.

So the reporter decided to offer his assistance and volunteered to remove it for the winger.

The reporter awkwardly tried to get a piece of grass out of Sterling's eye.

Davidson stopped firing questions at him and instead leaned his hand forward to try and wipe Sterling's eye for him.

"You've got a bit of... you've got grass in your eye," he said.

Sterling quickly brushed his hand away and awkwardly told the interviewer: 'Uh uh! You're going to put some more dirt in my eye. But nah, yea... what did you say?"

Although Davidson seemed to be trying to be kind, it was obviously too close for comfort for Sterling.

To be fair, who'd want some bloke digging around your eyelids?

Davidson ended up admitting he had forgotten what tangent he was on and could not remember his question.

Sterling quickly tried to move on and directed the discussion to Palmer being awarded man of the match.

The Chelsea star made it clear he didn't need any assistance with his vision issue.

Another wrote: "That Sky interview with Sterling and Palmer was so cringey! When he put his hand out to get whatever it was out of Sterling’s eye, ewww."

A third added: "I think the weirdest thing was the guy trying to finger Sterling's eyeball, what a freak!"

A fourth commented: "Did the reporter just try and grab grass out of Raheem's eye?!"

And a fifth chimed in: "What planet is that interviewer on to think it’s okay to pause and try and take a piece of grass out of Sterling’s eye mid interview."
