Shoppers shocked to see supermarkets selling Easter Eggs already

Mini Eggs, Creme Eggs and Easter Eggs are in before it's even 2023

Shoppers have been sharing their shock at Easter Eggs and Easter chocolate lining supermarket shelves before the year is even out.

Christmas is barely even over and there's still Quality Street in the tin, but supermarkets are one step ahead.

Stores including Sainsbury's and Morrisons are already selling Creme Eggs, Mini Eggs and Easter Egg chocolate - despite the fact that Easter is still over three months away.

With more than 100 days until Easter Sunday, shops have been getting Easter chocolate in and on the shelves, and some shoppers are really not happy about it.

Twitter users shared snaps of their local retailers putting out the Easter chocolate as early as Christmas Eve.

One shopper shared: "Not Sainsburys putting out easter eggs on f****n Christmas Eve".

Another Twitter user posted an Easter egg display, writing: "There you go people, Morrisons selling Easter eggs on Boxing Day."

Another did the same and wrote: "Just getting the Easter eggs out on the shelves."

A third added: "Easter eggs are in the shops, lads."

Early deals on Easter treats including Galaxy caramel eggs, Lindt and Cadbury chocolate bunnies, as well as 2 for £1 deals on creme eggs, can be found at many high street supermarkets as Christmas chocolate is reduced or wiped from the shelves now Christmas Day is over.

One customer described it as 'commercialism at its best' whilst another teased: "Tis the season for Easter chocolate (even though Christmas chocolate is reduced opposite)."

It seems shops were also receiving Easter chocolate deliveries before Christmas had even happened, as some in the know users on Twitter revealed.

One savvy shopper shared: "I joked with some shelf stackers about Easter eggs in Morrisons the other day and they laughed and said that the first five boxes were already in the warehouse. True story."

Another explained that Easter deliveries can arrive as early as 15 December, when they wrote: "I did some HGV driving for them 2 years ago - we were delivering Easter eggs to store mid December so I guess you'll be fine."

While Easter treats might be coming back early, let's all keep our fingers crossed that this flavour combination from Sainsbury's doesn't make a comeback in 2023.

Last year the retailer divided shoppers when it released it's 'easter Bunny snacks' which included carrots and chocolate flavoured hummus.

We'll pass, thanks.
