Russian state TV has seen a threat issued to the UK after President Vladimir Putin’s ‘propagandist in chief’ Dmitry Kiselyov said the UK should be targeted with nuclear weapons.
Issuing two threats, Kiselyov said Russia could hit Britain with a hypersonic missile known as Satan-2 – officially called Sarmat – or use an underwater robotic drone called Poseidon to ‘plunge Britain into the depths of the sea’.
Speaking on Rossiya-1, Kiselyov said the underwater bomb could ‘raise a giant wave, a tsunami, up to 500 metres [1,640ft] high’.
If they were to detonate such a weapon, it could create a tidal wave that would reach almost up Scafell Pike – the tallest mountain in England – and be full of radioactive material that would turn England into a ‘radioactive desert’.

This threat comes after Boris Johnson was accused of suggesting that the UK could use nuclear weapons against Russia without consulting NATO first.
Downing Street has denounced those claims as ‘baseless’ and called them ‘another example of disinformation peddled by the Kremlin’.
Kiselyov claims that Britain, which – alongside many other countries – has supplied weapons and aid to Ukraine, couldn’t possibly hope to match Russia in a nuclear war.
Kiselyov said: “And what will happen after Boris Johnson's words about a ‘retaliatory strike on Russia’?”

“Why do they threaten vast Russia with nuclear weapons while they are only a small island? The island is so small that one Sarmat missile is enough to drown it once and for all."
He continued: "Russian missile Sarmat [aka Satan-2], the world most powerful… is capable of… destroying an area the size of Texas or England.
“A single launch, Boris, and there is no England anymore."

He then added: “Another option to plunge Britain into the depths of the sea is the Russian underwater robotic drone Poseidon.
“It approaches the target at a one kilometre depth with the speed of 200 kilometres per hour [125mph]. There is no way to stop this underwater drone. It has a warhead with a capacity of up to 100 megatons.
“The explosion of this thermonuclear torpedo close to Britain's shores will raise a giant wave, a tsunami, up to 500 metres [1,640ft] high.
"This tidal wave is also a carrier of extremely high doses of radiation. Surging over Britain, it will turn what is probably left of them into radioactive desert. Permanently unusable for anything.

“How do you like this prospect? And Putin warned about this, back on February 24 [if anyone interfered with his special military operation].”
The Poseidon weapon has been in development for several years now, with Putin claiming in 2019 that ‘work is going according to plan’.
The head of Roscosmos – Russia’s space agency – has also echoed the nuclear threats, stating: “Boris, if ‘Sarmat’ is used, none of you will ‘consult with each other’.
