Prince Harry will release his memoir called Spare on January 10 next year

The name of Prince Harry’s much-anticipated memoir has been revealed by his publisher as well as the book's exact release date.

The book, Spare, will hit the shelves on January 10.

The title Spare is a word dripping with meaning, an apparent reference to Harry’s life growing up third in line to the throne, behind now-King Charles and his older brother, Prince William.

The memoir's publisher Penguin Random House teased the Prince's story as an account told with 'raw, unflinching honesty'.

The publisher’s description reads: "Spare is a landmark publication full of insight, revelation, self-examination, and hard-won wisdom about the eternal power of love over grief.

"Spare takes readers immediately back to one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror."

The description adds: As Diana, Princess of Wales, was laid to rest, billions wondered what the princes must be thinking and feeling - and how their lives would play out from that point on.”

Little else is known about the content of the memoir and what Prince Harry included in his own account of his life.

The upcoming tell-all will mark the first time people around the world have fully heard directly from the Prince himself.

After Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle decided to quit the royal family, they sat down with Oprah in early 2021; an interview that sent shockwaves through the royal family and around the world.

Ever since, the royal family has seemed even more divided, so only time will tell of the impact Prince Harry's own words will have.

The title, however, did not go unnoticed on social media, making waves and sparking division across the annals of the internet.

Some had high praises for the second son's book title.

One Twitter user said: "Prince Harry’s calling his memoir Spare is absolutely iconic. A perfect book title."

Another added a number of clapping emojis with just the book title: "SPARE."

Others were not so kind.

One social media user said: Spare is peak self-pity.

Controversial TV host Piers Morgan didn't miss a chance to lash out at the royal, adding: "It’s based on the phrase 'heir and a spare' and is Harry’s way of whining that he won’t ever be King."

BBC’s former royal correspondent Peter Hunt simply added: "The power and the pathos of one word."

The 416-page book will come out in 16 languages on January 10, 2023 and also will be released in an audiobook edition read by Prince Harry himself.
