Piers Morgan ‘isn’t buying any’ of what Ghislaine Maxwell says in first prison interview

Piers Morgan has weighed in on Ghislaine Maxwell's first interview from prison

Piers Morgan has weighed in on the TalkTV interview done with Ghislaine Maxwell, marking her first TV interview since being locked up in prison.

Maxwell is currently serving 20 years behind bars in the Federal Correctional Institute Tallahassee, Florida, a low security prison.

She was sent there after being found guilty of conspiracy to entice and transport individuals under 17 with the intent to engage in illegal sexual activity, as well as sex trafficking of individuals under the age of 17 and 18.

She had denied charges of trafficking young girls for her partner, the convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, but was found guilty on five of six counts she faced in court.

Speaking in her first interview since her sentence began, Maxwell said she wished she had never met Epstein and talked about how he 'devastated' her life and claimed the photograph of her, Prince Andrew and Virginia Giuffre was a fake.

Piers Morgan gave his verdict on the Ghislaine Maxwell interview.

Speaking after the interview was broadcast on TalkTV, Piers Morgan told fellow presenter Jeremy Kyle he wasn't believing her account of events.

He said: "Extraordinary tapes there of Ghislaine Maxwell. I've got to say I'm not buying it, I'm not buying any of what she's saying.

"I totally agree with what your last guest just said, which is this is all about her last desperate attempt to get off a rap she thoroughly deserved."

"And of course the best way for her to do that is to say we've all been framed in this, only Epstein was the bad guy. I was framed, Andrew was framed, we were all caught up with this horrible man and we didn't know anything better."

Morgan also mentioned his own meeting with Ghislaine Maxwell, which he said bolstered his belief that she wasn't telling the truth about her time with Epstein.

Ghislaine Maxwell refused the opportunity to apologise to her victims.

He said: "I met Ghislaine Maxwell once for a few minutes, very smart person. Too smart to have bought into this by accident."

During the interview with TalkTV, Maxwell refused the opportunity to apologise to Epstein's victims, saying they should 'take their disappointment and upset out on the authorities that allowed that to happen'.

She said: "I say Epstein has died and they should take their disappointment and upset out on the authorities that allowed that to happen.

"And, as I said, I hope that they have some closure via the judicial process that took place."

"And I wish them, er... time is ticking on and to be able to have a productive and good life going forward. And that's what I hope for them."
