The awkward TV exchange took place in 2019.

Eamonn Holmes was asked about the moment where Philip Schofield 'rudely interrupted' his wife, Ruth Langsford, on This Morning.

Following weeks of rumours surrounding an alleged 'feud' between Schofield and Holly Willoughby, the presenter confirmed his departure from the ITV daytime show on Saturday (20 May).

"I have always been proud to cover fascinating stories on This Morning. But recently, This Morning itself has become the story," Schofield said in a statement.

“Throughout my career in TV – including the very difficult last few days – I have always done my best to be honourable and kind. I understand that ITV has decided the current situation can’t go on, and I want to do what I can to protect the show that I love.

“So I have agreed to step down from This Morning with immediate effect, in the hope that the show can move forward to a bright future. I’d like to thank everyone who has supported me – especially This Morning’s amazing viewers – and I’ll see you all for the Soap Awards next month.”

Following his departure, a clip from 2019 has resurfaced of the 61-year-old cutting off Langsford mid-sentence while filming a link between This Morning and Loose Women.

While Langsford shared a brief snippet of what was to come on Loose Women, Schofield interrupted by saying: "Guys, we're going to have to jump in there and stop you I'm afraid because we're a bit tight for time at this end.

"Thank you, Ruth," he concluded.

And Langsford seemingly wasn't too unimpressed with being interrupted, as she could be heard saying: "Well I only had about two more words to say," before looking away from the camera.

The exchange happened back in 2019.

Four years later, Holmes has addressed the incident on his GB News show.

When the TV exchange was brought up by former Daily Star editor, Dawn Neeson, Holmes said: "I could give you a list of a lack of kindness and awareness from the both of them (Schofield and Willoughby) about how they would socialise and know people around them.

"You just have to look at my phone, full of people glad to see the back of the two of them."

And it is certainly not the first time Holmes has publicly criticised Schofield and Wilhought, with the presenter saying the pair should win a 'special award' for 'best actors' when they returned to the This Morning sofa.

LADbible has reached out to Schofield and Wilhoughy's reps for comment.
