You've got to make the best of a bad situation.

What do you do when you're bored on a cruise liner that has been quarantined because of the coronavirus?

Well, if you're hankering for a drop of wine then you can kiss that idea goodbye, because you can't just pop to the bar or the shop for a nice bottle.

But one Aussie couple thought outside the box and managed to get a fresh bit of plonk onboard the Diamond Princess without having to lift a finger.

Jan and Dave Binskin have been sharing regular updates of their time aboard the cruise ship, which has been quarantined in Japan after several passengers started getting sick. A whopping 169 people on board have since tested positive for the new coronavirus.

The Binksins, from Queensland in Australia, have been stuck on the ship in Yokohoma port for more than a week, along with some 3,700 passengers and crew members.

But rather than sitting around moping, as I'm sure many of us would do, they've decided to make the best of a bad situation.

They've been keeping themselves amused by posing in their masks for selfies, sharing snaps of the view from the cruise ship. But when they got thirsty, they got inventive.

They shared a photo of a bottle of pinot noir next to some glasses, writing: "Naked Wine Club you're incredible just got the first drop. Thank god for drones, the Japanese Coast Guard did not know what the f*** was going on."

The next photo showed a happy-looking Dave holding up the wine - who had pulled down his face mask to reveal a wide smile - with the caption: "Happy Hour Drone Wine."

A few days later they also posted pictures of featuring more bottles of wine, implying they were back on the lash.

Of course, it's not all been fun and games on board.

In an update on 10 February, the couple wrote: "Not good news. Another 61 cases confirmed, now 130 in total. It's like Russian roulette - hope we don't draw the loaded gun."

In another post yesterday they said: "Further to my posts today Captain just announced another 38 people are positive... s***."

According to the John Hopkins University coronavirus map, at the time of writing there have been a total of 1,118 deaths due to COVID-19, with 45,210 cases confirmed globally.

Japanese Health Minister Katsunobu Kato said at a press conference that the thousands of remaining passengers aboard the Diamond Princess would have to remain on the ship while testing continues.

He said: "I want to take sufficient care of the health of passengers and crew and make every effort to prevent the spread of the virus.

"We had them [the ones who tested positive] get off the vessel and... we are sending them to medical organisations."
