Johnny Depp's Lawyer Camille Vasquez Slams 'Sexist' Dating Rumors

Johnny Depp's Lawyer Camille Vasquez Slams 'Sexist' Dating Rumors

The lawyer said the dating rumours between her and the Pirates of the Caribbean star were ‘entirely, 100 per cent, unequivocally untrue’.

Johnny Depp’s lawyer Camille Vasquez has hit back at dating rumours between her and the actor, slamming them as ‘sexist’.

The lawyer, who is coming off a big win after a jury of seven were in favour of her client, awarding Depp $15 million (AU $20.7 million, £12 million) worth in damages for defamation, recently sat down with PEOPLE and spoke of her relationship with the actor.

Vasquez confirmed the dating rumours between her and the Pirates of the Caribbean star were ‘entirely, 100 per cent, unequivocally untrue’.

Many on social media began to speculate the two were dating after watching footage emerge from the courtroom.

However, the lawyer told the outlet: "I guess it comes with the territory of being a woman just doing her job."

She continued: "It's disappointing that certain outlets kind of ran with it or said that my interactions with Johnny — who is a friend and I've known and represented for four-and-a-half years now — that my interactions in any way were inappropriate or unprofessional. That's disappointing to hear."

Vasquez confirmed that she was in a ‘happy relationship’ and that speculation of this kind in the workplace is extremely ‘sexist’.

She also spoke of her close relationship with Depp, revealing that it ‘broke’ her heart to watch the actor sit in court while ‘horrific allegations’ were made against him.

She said: “if I could provide any bit of comfort, then of course I would do that, whether it's holding his hand or letting him know that we were there and we were going to fight for him because he deserved it."

Following the verdict win, the attorney landed a huge promotion, being made partner at Brown Rudnick law firm after working there for less than four years.

Brown Rudnick chair and CEO William Baldiga announced the news via a press release: "We are delighted to welcome Camille to the partnership.

“Historically, we have reserved this announcement for the end of our fiscal year. But Camille’s performance during the Johnny Depp trial proved to the world that she was ready to take this next step now.

“We are incredibly proud of her and look forward to what she will accomplish as our newest partner.”

Vasquez said that she was ‘delighted’ upon hearing the news, and the promotion has given her a ‘full vote of confidence’.
