Lance Reddick Eric Andre clip resurfaces following devastating news of actor’s death

"One of the only people to genuinely rattle Eric Andre"

A memorable clip of Lance Reddick's appearance on The Eric Andre Show has resurfaced following the devastating news of his death.

Today (17 March), it was revealed that Reddick, who was best known for his roles on John Wick and The Wire, passed away at the age of 60.

In a statement to the BBC, his publicist Mia Hansen said: "Lance will be greatly missed.

"Please respect his family's privacy at this time."

Reddick was hailed as one of Hollywood's finest, with an impressive filmography and portfolio of work attesting to his powerful performances.

The late star played the character of Charon in all four John Wick films, as well as Cedric Daniels in The Wire.

As tributes continue to pour in, one particularly memorable moment has been circulating on Twitter - when he appeared on Andre's surreal talk show parody for Adult Swim.

The actor created a legendary moment on the parody show.

In the show's textbook style fans will instantly recognise, the host asks Reddick about a whole range of weird topics, from claymation to baseball, before Hannibal Buress tucks into a giant bag of crisps.

Reddick doesn't break character and manages to remain deadpan throughout while rolling with the hilarious punches.

Then, out of the blue, he gets up and punches Andre's desk before telling him, "You need a new desk," and walking off, leaving the host flabbergasted.

The whole thing demonstrates the pair's acting abilities, as some people still think the confrontation was legit.

Taking to Twitter, one person who shared the clip wrote: "RIP Lance Reddick, one of the only people to genuinely rattle Eric Andre."

Speaking with the Emmys back in 2018, Reddick said the appearance was both 'planned' and 'improvised'.

"It was planned, but improvised," he said. "I didn't know I was going to do that. I put a hole in it, and that's why I said, 'You need a new desk.'"

The moment is heartbreaking in retrospect, with hundreds of people sharing their condolences in the wake of his death.

One Twitter user wrote: "Rest in peace to a an immensely talented man."

Tributes continue to pour in for the late star.

A second added: "Rest in peace to Lance Reddick, an incredible actor with an amazing body of work.

"He lent his amazing and unique voice, both literally and artistically, to many different projects and characters over his career."

"RIP Lance Reddick - one of my favourite actors," said a third.

"Always gave the performance of his life in anything he was in from John Wick to The Wire to Fringe. He will be dearly missed."
