People are flocking to social media in praise of Heinz and Absolut vodka's unexpected collaboration.

Gone are the days where you offer to host friends round for dinner and panic at the last minute that you don't have the time or brain cells to cook anything fancy after a long day's work.

All that time you spent in the coronavirus lockdown learning how to make banana bread and vodka tomato pasta? Wasted. Because now all the prep's been done for you and it sounds like it'll be pretty hard to beat.

Heinz and Swedish vodka brand Absolut have revealed they've partnered up to produce a boozy pasta sauce.

Prepare for your jaw to drop at the collaboration you never knew you needed.

But why have the two brands decided to collaborate now?

Heinz and Absolut have collaborated on a vodka pasta sauce.
Heinz

Heinz to Home's website states: "Pasta alla Vodka had one of its biggest moments in history in 2020, when a certain supermodel and influencer created a viral sensation with their social media recipe for spicy vodka pasta, becoming one of the trendiest recipes on TikTok and Instagram.

"Now, one of the most iconic tomato sauce brands, Heinz, and one of the most iconic premium vodka brands, Absolut Vodka, are bringing their own version of the much-loved recipe to the masses, in jar-form, through the creation of Heinz x Absolut Tomato Vodka Pasta Sauce."

According to Heinz's website, the combination of Heinz sauce and Absolut vodka is 'a match made in pasta heaven'.

The jar contains a respectable three servings.

Don't expect to get drunk off the sauce anytime soon though - the product description continues: "The vodka boosts the flavour of the tomatoes, creating a rich texture that perfectly balances the creamy, cheese notes with the rich tomato and fragrant basil.

"During the cooking process, most of the alcohol from the vodka is reduced, boosting the volatile flavour compounds already present in the tomatoes and creating a rich texture that perfectly balances the creamy, cheese notes with the rich tomato and fragrant basil."

The pasta sauce comes in 350g jars at the cost of a pretty affordable £2.50. It also contains 'naturally occurring sugars' but 'no added sugar' alongside 'no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives'.

Don't get too excited about the prospect of getting drunk off the sauce, as most of the vodka is 'reduced' during the cooking process.

Heinz also notes: "One of your five a day per serving, when eaten as part of a balanced diet."

Baked bean and ketchup-lovers and vodka-drinkers have flooded to Twitter in celebration of the collab.

One user wrote: "sorry I am gonna stop being annoying on twt now and do some work BUT heinz & absolut are doing a collab (vodka pasta sauce!) and i just think that's genius and SUCH good marketing, hats off to both teams #marketingtwitter."

"Checks date: Nope, not April 1st. Seriously, Heinz and Absolut Vodka?" another added.

A third added: "Phew! Talking to a customer service representative just now at Heinz and bizarrely discovered that this is no pre-April Fool stunt! What one absolut saucy concept!"

The sauce even contains one of your five a day - what's not to love?

However, the product is listed as 'limited edition,' so if you fancy some quick-and-easy boozy pasta sauce, you better hop to Heinz's website pronto to pre-order a few jars of the extra saucy sauce - set to be released on 1 April.

Careful about getting too attached to the sauce though, as each consumer is limited to a 'maximum of five jars' to pre-order.

Or, it will become available in Waitrose stores nationwide from 12 April.

Absolut notes: "Heinz x Absolut Tomato Vodka Pasta Sauce is only available in the UK."
