Trainspotter Francis Bourgeois bumps into royal family on tube in bizarre video

Francis Bourgeois happened upon the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on London's newest tube line

The iconic trainspotter, Francis Bourgeois, bumped into the royal family while on the tube in an extremely bizarre video.

The locomotive-enthusiast-stroke-content-creator was checking out London's latest tube service, the Elizabeth line, and happened upon two very high-profile members of the monarchy at Tottenham Court Road station of all places.

Francis managed to capture the entire encounter on camera and was even able to get one of the royal's verdicts on the Lizzy line.

Francis took to Instagram yesterday (4 May) to share with his 1.8 million followers the latest experience he had with London's newest transport route.

The service, named after the late Queen Elizabeth II, officially opened in summer of last year during her Platinum Jubilee year.

Francis began the vlog asking his viewers: "Have you ever found yourself at Tottenham Court Road station wanting to go eastbound and the train you're wanting to get is ready to go?

"Well, me too, pretty much every time."

The video showed the train-lover sprinting across the tube station and towards the carriage before narrowly making it on board.

Geared up in his famed headset and all, Francis then took a seat to catch his breath.

Just moments after, the trainspotter happened upon two members of the royal family just casually walking down the aisle of the tube.

The trainspotter spoke with the Prince and Princess of Wales on the Lizzy line.

And then Francis bumps straight into the Prince and Princess of Wales, Prince William and Kate Middleton, in one the most quintessentially awkward British interactions of all time.

As the pair walk towards him, Kate can be heard saying: "Hi, very nice to meet you," as she and William shake Francis' hand.

"Hi, how you doing?" the heir to the throne adds.

Somewhat star-struck by the whole encounter, Francis replies: "Hi, um, nice to meet you. I hope you enjoy the Elizabeth line."

Before swiftly moving on, William answers: "Yeah, pretty good. Have a good day."

Francis then ends the video telling the duo: "Cheerio."

And, he seemingly shared the same sentiments on the service as William, after captioning the short clip: "The Elizabeth Line sprint at Tottenham Court Road is quite enjoyable once you get used to it!"

The official Instagram account for the Prince and Princess of Wales even commented on his video, writing: "Nice to see you," accompanied with a waving emoji.

For any of you who may be wondering what on earth Will and Kate were even doing on the underground in the first place, they simply decided to commute by tube to the Dog And Duck pub in Soho for a frosty golden pint.

The pair boarded the tube at Acton Main Line in west London and were seen chatting with Transport for London (TfL) staff about their plans for the upcoming bank holiday weekend ahead of King Charles III's coronation.

They travelled three stops before departing the carriage at Tottenham Court Road and walking to the Soho boozer.

The visit to the pub comes as the hospitality industry gears up for a busy weekend during the coronation.

London is expecting a staggering £68 million boost during the period just from the tourists in the city alone, according to Key Data.

The historic event has reportedly triggered a mammoth 75 percent increase in the number of visitors to London from abroad.

It's going to be a busy Cory Bob indeed.
