Eamonn Holmes hits out at Phillip Schofield for 'lying' to him and wife Ruth Langsford

Holmes has accused Phillip Schofield of having 'deceived and lied' to him and Ruth Langsford.

Eamonn Holmes has accused Phillip Schofield of having 'deceived and lied to' him and Ruth Langsford.

The fellow broadcaster - who also previously hosted This Morning - has made no secret of his stance against Schofield since the 61-year-old stepped down from his presenting role, later leaving ITV completely.

Off the back of Schofield having admitted to having an affair with a younger ITV colleague, Holmes has alleged he and fellow presenter Langsford were taken 'for fools'.

Responding to a user who called him a 'hypocrite' for being 'outraged' sharing footage of the pair hugging and laughing together on screen, Holmes took to Twitter to claim Schofield 'deceived and lied to' him and Langsford.

The post continues: "One day I will tell the story. We had no issue with him being Gay, only support.

"What transpired took us for fools . The man told us complete lies and we unfortunately believed him."

Holmes previously called out the former This Morning host and his co-star Holly Willoughby as being 'actors,' predicting the pair wouldn't be co-hosting the morning show for much longer.

Speaking on his GB News show, he said: "They may or may not be together on the telly today. He's brought in lawyers, she's brought in a PR team.

"The public surely will suss that there's no chemistry, that it's a broken fit between the two of them and that This Morning does not depend on who presents it.

"It's an institution, it will carry on no matter who presents it and anyone can check the viewing figures, there's no difference between whether they present it or anyone else."

The group all shared a sofa on ITV's This Morning.

Holmes was also quick to condemn Schofield for re-surfaced footage of him appearing to interrupt Langsford mid-sentence while filming a link between This Morning and Loose Women in 2019.

Reflecting on the clip of Schofield seemingly cutting Langsford off, Holmes said: "I could give you a list of a lack of kindness and awareness from the both of them (Schofield and Willoughby) about how they would socialise and know people around them.

"You just have to look at my phone, full of people glad to see the back of the two of them."

Phillip Schofield announced his departure from This Morning on Saturday.

Holmes has also claimed Schofield didn't step down from his role but was fired.

On GB News, Holmes called the idea of Schofield having 'stepped down' 'nonsense'.

He continued: "I'm sure you did. Now here's your P45, now step down. Why do we propagate this language?

"'I've decided to step down' and [Holly] says the couch won't feel the same without him people there. Well she wanted him not there, so why is she moaning about the couch not feeling the same for? They deserve each other."
