Clip comparing David Beckham to Simon from The Inbetweeners goes viral following 2am queue

People from all over the world have queued to pay their final respects to the Queen as she lies in state at Westminster Hall

People from all over the world have queued up to pay their final respects to the Queen as she lies in state at Westminster Hall.

There's been a fair few famous faces spotted in the now infamous queue and among them was legendary footballer, David Beckham.

And while people admired Becks' stint in the 'people's queue,' as opposed to the fast-track queue politicians and press were joining, a meme has gone viral comparing the star to Simon from The Inbetweeners.

No, it's not the one where Simon sits on a shed — it is, however, just as funny.

Beckham was said to have joined the queue at 2:00am and brought doughnuts with him for others waiting.

What a gent.

The talented midfielder donned a flat cap and suit as he waited to see Her Majesty.

And, as you can imagine people in and out of the queue were quick to take to Twitter to comment on Becks showing up.

One user praised the footballer: "David Beckham doesn't mind a long queue and even brought doughnuts for the people around him."

While another seconded: "Knight this man already."

And a third ran a little further with that scenario, sharing a clip of Simon from The Inbetweeners with the caption: "David Beckham getting home this evening and discovering that he still hasn’t got that Knighthood, despite queuing up for 13 hours to see the Queen lying in state#QueueWatch #QueueForTheQueen."

The clip showed Simon in bed crying, having just broken up with his girlfriend, Carli.

Since posting, the clip has gone viral and divided fans along the way, with one writing: "This is an absolute banger."

A second suggested that Becks being in the queue was a ploy: "Dave ‘there goes my hero, he’s ordinary’ Beckham, queued for 12 hours like everyone else, has the PR advisors in the UK."

Another added: "I'm so glad somebody else thinks it that way. Here was I, about to lable myself cynical."

Others hit back at the video, with one user writing: "I think this clip says more about little you than him Your welcome.."

While another wrote: "The Inbetweeners aren’t bitter and twisted W****** by any chance."

Another just wanted everyone to stop arguing, commenting: "Awwwww lol, leave him alone, I'm not a Royalist so wouldn't stand in the queue for 1 minute, but 12 hours!!!!! Let's give him some credit guys."

Anyway, memes aside, those wanting to pay their respects to the Queen before tomorrow's state funeral, will need to get in the queue soon as the last visitors will be let into Westminster Hall just before 6:30am tomorrow.
