Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe admitted he wants his kids to avoid one thing ‘at all costs’

Daniel Radcliffe recently confirmed that he and long-term partner Erin Darke are expecting their first child together.

The couple first met a decade ago on the set of 2013 movie Kill Your Darlings where he played poet Allen Gingsberg and she played Gwendolyn, a woman infatuated with his character.

Radcliffe remembers that they felt a connection very quickly, saying that when they were flirting for the first time there was 'no acting going on - not from my end anyway'.

Now 10 years on, a spokesperson for the couple has confirmed that they're expecting their first baby and were really looking forward to welcoming their new family member.

They said: "Daniel and Erin could not be happier to be expecting. They are absolutely thrilled, and can’t wait to become a family of three.

"They told their families and friends recently. It’s an incredibly exciting time."

Radcliffe, best known for his leading role in the Harry Potter franchise, had been speaking about the possibilities of parenthood in recent months as during the press tour for Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, he told Newsweek he could imagine bringing them to film sets.

He said that when it came to any future children of his 'if and when they exist' (which is now happening) the actor 'would love them to be around film sets'.

However, while he'd like his child to get to experience the magic of film sets there's a major part of showbusiness that he would prefer they avoid 'at all costs', and it's something he had to deal with plenty of in his childhood.

He said: "I wouldn’t want fame for my kid.

"Film sets are wonderful places, I think a lot of the time it can be wonderful for kids. But it’s really the fame side of it that should be avoided at all costs."

Instead he described a hope that his child would be on set and say they'd 'love to be in the art department' or 'love to be something in the crew' rather than in front of the camera.

Radcliffe got plenty of experience being a child star with Harry Potter, and has opened up about the fact that he used to get 'very drunk' to cope with the pressures of fame.

The actor quit drinking in 2010 at the age of 22, explaining that he used to think 'the quickest way to forget about the fact that you’re being watched is to get very drunk', only to realise that getting more drunk brought more attention, which he would then drink to ignore.
