Footage shows the chilling moment a honeytrap killer propped a door open to allow a knifeman into the victim’s flat.

The horrifying story was told on a recent special episode of Channel 4’s 24 Hours in Police Custody, which focused on the ‘honeytrap murder’.

In the two-part programme, which aired last week and is available to watch on All4 now, we saw how a gang of four plotted to seduce, drug and rob Saul Murray after seeing photos of him on social media wearing expensive Rolex watches.

Dad-of-six Murray, 33, was found naked and stabbed to death in Luton, Bedfordshire, having been seduced by Surpreet Dhillon, 36, and Temidayo Awe, 21, on 26 February 2022.

Planning to steal what they believed to be high value items, the pair gave him the sedative GHB (gamma-hydroxybutyrate).

While Awe left Murray’s flat in the early hours, Dhillon used a broom to prop open the communal front door so that she could later return with two men, Ikem Affia, 31, and Cleon Brown, 29.

CCTV footage shows Affia carrying a large knife as he left the flat on 27 February 2022.

The conspiracy to rob Murray took a deadly turn when he was later found in a pool of blood in the communal entrance, with a post mortem revealing that he bled to death due to a stab wound to his thigh, which had pierced his femoral artery.

The expensive watches that the group had planned to steal also turned out to be fake.

Police managed to catch Affia after spotting he was wearing a rare Moncler coat worth more than £1,000, with only 69 having been sold in the UK at the time.

In a personal statement, Saul's father Colin said that he had watched his son die on CCTV.

He added: "It is the last thing I think about before going to sleep and first thing I think about when I wake up."

Judge Michael Simon said Murray’s life had been 'brutally cut short’, with Dhillon living a ‘predatory lifestyle’ chasing ‘easy money’.

Affia was sentenced to life in prison for murder and will have to serve a minimum of 25 years, having also been sentenced to 14 years for conspiracy to commit robbery to run concurrently.

Brown was sentenced to 11 years for manslaughter and nine years for conspiracy to commit robbery to run concurrently, with a total of 11 years.

Dhillon was sentenced to 10 years for manslaughter and 10 years for conspiracy to commit robbery to run concurrently, with a total of 10 years.

And Awe was sentenced to seven years for manslaughter and six years for conspiracy to commit robbery to run concurrently, with a total of seven years.

Speaking after the case, Detective Inspector Dale Mepstead, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit, said: “This was clearly a planned attack; facilitated by Dhillon and Awe and carried out by Affia and Brown. It’s obvious from the way the two women used a sedative substance on Mr Murray and the fact Affia was armed with a knife that they were prepared to get what they wanted at any cost – which sadly was Mr Murray’s life.

"This was a very lengthy and complex investigation, which involved scrutinising hours of CCTV, phone data, vehicle telematics and other evidence to place each of them at Mr Murray’s flat at the time of the offence.

"I hope that the knowledge that all four people involved in this horrific incident will be locked up for a very long time can bring some justice to Saul’s loved ones.”
