Two people have been arrested after a video went viral of a brawl breaking out at an airport.

Travelling is stressful even at the best of times; making sure your suitcase is the right weight, remembering your passport, not missing your flight.

So the pressure would certainly intensify if you found yourself thrown to the floor while waiting to pick up your luggage in the baggage claim area.

On Monday (22 May), a violent brawl broke out at O'Hare International Airport in Chicago and two individuals have since been arrested after footage of the incident went viral on social media.

It doesn't take long for the fight to escalate.

The video begins with several people on the ground in an altercation, before even more punches start being thrown and others rush to get involved.

Hair is pulled, some resort to kicking and wrestling, others end up on the baggage carousel and someone even uses their headphones as a weapon.

The scene is chaotic, to say the least, and looks like the scene out of Kingsman when Richmond Valentine (Samuel L. Jackson) flicks the switch activating a violence-inducing signal across the globe, causing people to launch themselves at one another for no apparent reason.

However, how the brawl broke out has now been partly explained.

People were fighting on top of the conveyor belt.

Chicago Police Department confirmed the brawl first broke out just after 11.00pm in the lower level of terminal three.

In a statement given to Fox News Digital, the Chicago Police Department said: "A verbal dispute while deplaning escalated in the lower level of terminal three when a 24-year-old female victim was punched by two offenders.

"The offenders were placed into custody and charged accordingly."

The two offenders - named as 18-year-old Christopher Hampton and 20-year-old Tembra Hicks - now each face one misdemeanour count of battery.

Two people involved in the brawl have since been arrested.

O'Hare International Airport's operator told Fox32 Chicago: "Safety and security are always the top priorities of the Chicago Department of Aviation.

"We work closely with all of our federal partners present at O'Hare and Midway International Airports and the Chicago Police Department to ensure that everyone is safe when they are in our facilities."

The Chicago Department of Aviation continued: "The CDA also ensures that its airline partners have clear lines of communication to public safety resources for occurrences within their leased areas."
