Tiger King star Carole Baskin has launched her own range of face masks.
Just a couple of months ago, barely anyone knew who she was and barely anyone was scouring the web for face masks; but here we are, it's May 2020, and the idea of Carole Baskin face masks seems perfectly normal.
The CEO of Big Cat Rescue and adversary of Joe Exotic in the hit Netflix docuseries is selling the cloth face masks in plain and leopard print designs and they are emblazoned with her catchphrase 'Hey all you cool cats and kittens'.

The 'PURRRFECT face masks' are being released in partnership with Tread 365 and a portion of proceeds will go directly towards supporting big cats - though it's not clear how big a portion. A further portion of proceeds will also go towards funding face masks for first responders - again, portion size not clear.

Last Monday (11 May), the UK government issued new guidance encouraging the public to wear face masks when in crowded or enclosed spaces.

In a 60-page document, the Government described a number of 'smarter controls' to help stop the spread of coronavirus.
According to the official guidelines, people should 'wear a face covering in enclosed spaces where social distancing is not always possible and they come into contact with others that they do not normally meet, for example on public transport or in some shops'.
Meanwhile, scientists from Harvard and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) are attempting to develop a face mask that lights up when it detects coronavirus.
The team of researchers are aiming to adjust technology that was developed to detect the Ebola and Zika viruses and make something usable for Covid-19.

According to the Evening Standard, if their efforts are successful, the technology could offer a speedy alternative to formal testing for the coronavirus, with doctors potentially able to diagnose patients on the spot.
