Kanye West Says Odd Haircut Was Inspired By Britney Spears

Kanye West has revealed that his odd patchy buzzcut was inspired by Britney Spears.

The rapper has been turning heads with his unusual look, with some wondering if he let one of his kids take the clippers to his barnet.

But the rapper - who recently changed his name to Ye - said he was actually making a point about mental health, inspired by Britney Spears, who famously shaved her head in 2007.

Speaking on the Drink Champs podcast, the 44-year-old said: "The phobia of mental health, that's why I did this haircut.

"The declaration of insanity is a form of control... At first, I called it the Britney. Now they can call it the Ye.

"The fact that my haircut and my [new] name came at the same time was something. This was harder than wearing the Trump hat because my image [is important]. I'm fly and you know as a black man, your haircut means so much.

"I'm a process artist so when you see the hair it's a representation of my thoughts developing."

It seems his thoughts have developed further though, because he was recently spotted with a totally shaved head - eyebrows and everything.

Elsewhere in the interview on the Drink Champs podcast, Ye said he wants 'to be together' with estranged wife Kim Kardashian.

They married in 2014, and the pair have four children together: North, Chicago, Psalm and Saint.

Kardashian filed for divorce in February, but West has now claimed they are 'not even divorced' and he wants to be with her.

Referencing his ex's self-deprecating monologue on Saturday Night Live last month, West said: "SNL making my wife say 'I divorced him' on TV because they just wanted to get that bar off, and I ain't never even seen the papers. We're not even divorced.

"That ain't no joke to me. My kids want their parents to stay together. I want us to be together."

In the SNL monologue referenced by Ye, reality TV star and billionaire businesswoman Kardashian joked about their break-up, as well as her sex tape and OJ Simpson.

In a gag about West and former step-parent Caitlyn Jenner - both of whom have had failed bids for political office over the last 12 months - Kardashian said: "I'm not running for president - we can't have three failed politicians in this family."

And joking about her divorce, Kardashian said the reason she split from West was 'his personality'.
