Las Vegas Casino Surprises Every Employee With £22 Million Worth Of Bonuses

Staff at the Cosmopolitan casino in Las Vegas all received a share of $27 million as thanks from their bosses

Bosses at a casino in Las Vegas made their staff unbelievably happy by doling out $27 million in bonuses across the entire workforce. Check out the moment that the staff got the good news below:

Yes, that’s a lot of cash, and it’ll make a big difference to a lot of lives.

Each of the 5,400 members of staff at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas Hotel and Casino are to receive a bonus of $5,000 as a reward for their hard work.

Some workers cried and there was widespread applause from the shocked workers as CEO Bill McBeath announced the news to the gathered crowd.

Naturally, the staff are thrilled, but also taken aback.

It’s not every day your employer decides to give you five grand, after all.

The staff were understandably elated.

Edgar Rives, who has been a chef at the employee cafeteria for nine years, said: “It’s amazing.

“It’s a big surprise.”

You can say that again.

The announcement was caught on camera as purple confetti rained down from the ceiling onto the workers.

All the while, Bruno Mars’ song '24K Magic’ was playing in the room.

This outburst of generosity comes as the company’s private equity firm Blackrock Real Estate is set to sell the property to a competitor, MGM Resorts International.

That deal could be worth as much as $1.6 billion, according to CNN Business.

As if there wasn’t enough money sloshing around in that part of Nevada to begin with.

Some workers couldn't believe it.

Cosmopolitan’s Chief People Officer Daniel Espino told the employees: “It’s you, every single day, that makes a difference.

“Whether you clean the rooms, cook the food, are dealing cards, serving drinks, at the front desk.”

The union that represents many Las Vegas casino employees, the Culinary Union, has also praised the actions of the casino hierarchy, crediting them for – obviously – their efforts to raise morale among the workers while rewarding their hard work.

Through a news release, the Culinary Union Secretary-Treasurer Ted Pappageorge said: “It’s the right thing for a company to share a portion of their profits with employees who have worked so hard to make the property successful."

The casino is located on the iconic Las Vegas Strip, trapped in between – you’ve guessed it – two other casinos.

The two that flank the Cosmopolitan are owned by MGM, the famous Bellagio and the City Center complex.

These bonuses come after a tough two years for the casino industry, which – like many other businesses within the hospitality sector – was crippled by Covid-19.

Still, this bit of extra cash will undoubtedly make a big difference to a lot of lives.
