Bookstore savagely puts Prince Harry's memoir next to book titled How To Kill Your Family

Bert's Books certainly caused a few laughs when they set up their window display.

A bookstore in the UK has gone viral for the way they promoted Prince Harry's memoir.

Bert's Books is found in Swindon and if you were passing the store this week you might have had a chuckle or two at the window display.

Spare was on full display in the shopfront window and it was positioned next to another book, titled How To Kill Your Family.

Considering there are a few tidbits in the Duke of Sussex's memoir about the Royal family and his relationships with them, it's an apt pairing.

Shop owner, Alex Call, told the BBC they thought the display was 'quite light-hearted and make a few people smile'.

It most certainly did as the picture went viral on Twitter.

One person wrote: "Brilliant window."

Another added: "Best window display EVER!!"

A third said: "You really gave thought to that display!"

The Twitter account for the store added: "It's been interesting today how people have projected some very different meanings onto this picture.

"Some have thought I'm supporting Harry, others think I'm doing the opposite. I don't really have strong opinions either way, tbh."

How To Kill Your Family author Bella Mackie responded to the viral picture with: "Thank you to the 8,000 people who've sent me this today. And thank you @bertsbooks, what an honour."

There's no denying Spare has had a huge first day on sale as the books seemed to fly off the shelves.

Sky News says 400,000 copies have been sold so far across hardback, ebook and audio formats on the first day of sale.

The outlet says that means Spare has become the 'fastest-selling non-fiction book ever'.

Transworld Penguin Random House managing director, Larry Finlay, said: "We always knew this book would fly but it is exceeding even our most bullish expectations.

"As far as we know, the only books to have sold more in their first day are those starring the other Harry (Potter)."

Harry insists Spare was not meant to be an attack on his family, but instead an account of his life.

“I’m writing this not as the prince I was born but as the man I have become," he said.

"I’ve worn many hats over the years, both literally and figuratively, and my hope is that in telling my story – the highs and lows, the mistakes, the lessons learned – I can help show that no matter where we come from, we have more in common than we think.
