Internet is pointing out ‘evidence’ that blue couch found on street isn't worth £6,500

The internet seems pretty adamant that it can prove that a couch found on the street isn’t worth thousands of pounds, like some have claimed.

If that made absolutely no sense to you, then you’re probably not alone.

However, over on Twitter, there has been a lot of chat about someone finding their ‘dream couch’ sitting on the street.

It’s a blue couch with some lumps and bumps in it that many have suggested might be a designer couch that originally cost $8,000 (around £6,500).

“WHY TF AM I NEVER THIS LUCKY?” one person asked about the people who originally found the piece of furniture.

Apparently, it’s called the Bubble Sofa from Roche Bobois, and the original video was shared by TikToker Amanda Joy.

However, those with a knowledge of what the designer produces have been quick to point out that there are some pieces of 'evidence' that suggest the couch isn’t actually worth that much.

Some have pointed out that the colour and fabric seem to be different to what we can see online, with one person writing: “Its a knock-off. The fabric isn't correct. It should be that honeycomb/meshy synthetic that they use.”

The plot thickens.

However, others have pointed out that if you can spend eight grand on this sofa, then you can also choose the fabric and colour.

Amongst them, there’s a person who claims to work for Roche Bobois – although we can’t confirm that – who said: “I work for Roche Bobois and you can choose the fabric you want if the design of the sofa allows it, it is not mandatory that it has to be in the fabric you call honeycomb.”

Still, more people have pointed out that if you go onto the website, you can’t choose that fabric or colour.

Perhaps we’re doomed to never understand fully whether this is a freebie ‘dream couch’ or not.

Surely a free couch is a free couch, and regardless of whether it’s designer, you’re still making a good saving?

On the Roche Bobois website, the actual Bubble couch is described thusly: “Created by Sacha Lakic, a designer with a passion for cutting-edge technology, Bubble expresses the balance between innovation, function and emotion.

“Inspired by natural and mineral forms and entirely handmade, its design required the development of specific stretch fabrics that perfectly fit its round shapes.

“With its unique style, the Bubble sofa, in straight or rounded version, is an iconic model in the Roche Bobois collection.”

Not everyone is so enamoured with the debate, however, with one person commenting: “I wish you could change the channel on Twitter if you didn’t like the discourse that was happening.

“Like we still on the episode of the big blue sidewalk couch?”

While another said: “Y’all are mentioning everything besides the fact that blue couch is ugly.”

And some have mentioned the possible hygiene problems from finding a couch on the street, to which Joy has responded too.

LADbible has contacted Roche Bobois for a comment and to confirm whether the couch found is actually one of theirs.
