Aussie swimwear brand slammed after hiring a bearded non-binary activist to be its new ambassador

Australian swimwear brand Seafolly have just appointed their latest ambassador, but not all are impressed by who they've chosen.

Non-binary Australian stylist Deni Todorovič has donned the famous Aussie togs to join the likes of Gigi Hadid and Jesinta Franklin in the hallowed halls of Seafolly fame.

Todorovič, who has a beard and whose gender was assigned male at birth, uses they/them pronouns and identifies as non-binary and transgender.

Deni, who is also an activist and published author, took to social media to celebrate their new posting with a few swimwear snaps.

They wrote: "Today we made history!

"This marks the first time iconic Aussie swim giants Seafolly have worked with a Trans ambassador/brand partner. As the Chief Marketing Officer said in our initial meeting, it’s the first time of many more to come. I couldn’t be honoured."

Seafolly posted a similar set of snaps, captioning the post: "PROUD to be celebrating Sydney World Pride 2023."

But it was quickly flooded with comments slamming the swimwear label for their choice of ambassador, history-making or not.

One person commented: "Boycott, boycott, boycott. Seafolly erasing women is NOT OK! Shove your products, I'm done!"

A second said: "WTF Seafolly? Shame on you for mocking women."

Another added: added on Twitter: "Bye Seafolly. Never again. Been buying swimsuits from you for many years. Never again."

Comments have since been removed and turned off on Seafolly's Instagram, but that didn't stop people taking to Todorovič's page to slam them.

One person commented: "Won't be shopping at Seafolly ever again."

Others heaped praise on the snaps.

One person said: "So much love for you."

Another added: "I wish I looked that good in a floor bikini."

A third lashed out at those slamming the stylist. "Did you know trans people drink the same water and breathe the same air as you? You might want to consider this little conundrum."

But that hasn't stopped the stylist from sharing videos and snaps in the wake of the Seafolly scandal.

The 34-year-old can be seen in the shots rocking a pair of lime green bikini bottoms and a matching cover-up in images snapped during Sydney WorldPride celebrations.

And holy heck, they look fierce.
