AFL player slammed for dressing as Jeffrey Dahmer for Halloween despite warnings

AFL player Jack Ginnivan has found himself at the centre of a social media firestorm after he dressed as Jefferey Dahmer for Halloween.

The 19-year-old ANZAC medallist posted images to social media of himself as the serial killer who has recently been the subject of Netflix's true crime drama Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story.

Ginnivan's outfit of the Milwaukee Cannibal was complete with a blood-spattered shirt and the same style of retro glasses favoured by the sex-offender and serial murderer.

Dahmer killed 17 people and carried out acts of necrophilia, cannibalism, and bizarre surgeries on his victims.

Ginnivan's post went down like a lead balloon on social media, with people flocking to the comments section to slam one of AFL's rising stars.

One user said: "Bit insensitive, don’t you think?"

A second added: "Disappointing and disgusting."

A third asked sarcastically: "Going as the Uvalde shooter next year? S**t form."

However, some people bizarrely backed the Collingwood forward for his choice of outfit for the spooky season.

One user said: "Seriously, get a grip all of you oversensitive morons! So it's okay to post half naked pics, dress up as killer clowns, and Mike Myers. It was Halloween and the Netflix series had just been top rated series to watch ... stop being so uptight."

Another added: "Oh geez Jack has made a massive mistake and should be punished big time.. Get a f***king life everyone and just chill out."

A third added: "This guy could run into a burning building saving many children and still people would find a negative out if it. It’s a costume, people. Chill out."

Ginnivan's controversial costume choice comes after eBay banned the sale of any costumes related to Jefferey Dahmer following the release of the Netflix series.

The e-commerce juggernaut confirmed that it will prevent customers from purchasing any items related to Dahmer as it violates their violent criminals policy.

Shirley Hughes, the mother of Tony Hughes, who was a deaf, non-vocal victim among the 17 young men murdered by Dahmer, told TMZ that it hurts her to see online stores profiting from her son and other victims' deaths.

She specifically panned eBay for selling Dahmer-inspired costumes and believes the ads should be removed or, at the very least, the profits should be given to the victims’ families.

When Netflix's Monster series dropped, everyone was warned not to dress as Dahmer for Halloween because it was insensitive to the victims to died.
