Brits warned as world’s most dangerous countries for 2024 have been revealed

The world's most dangerous countries for 2024 have been revealed as Brits look set to book holidays come January.

Christmas is only a matter of days away now, as millions of Brits panic buy in the final hours as they realise they forget to buy anything for that one unfortunate family member.

But while the festive season may be on the forefront of everyone's minds right now, that quickly changes once we see in the New Year.

As January is pretty wet and miserable, a lot of Brits decide to book their summer holidays in the opening weeks of the year as something to look forward to in the months ahead.

Whether it be Spain, Portugal, France or even further afield, there are a lot of options and bargains to be had when it comes to holidays as we enter 2024.

While some of those favoured holiday destinations remain absolutely fine, there are some countries Brits and other European travellers will want to be avoiding in summer 2024.

In fact, you may even be planning a getaway at the beginning of the year to escape the gloomy British weather, so this news will come as a matter of urgency.

An annual interactive map recently released by the International SOS has revealed some of the countries where travellers are likely to face threats.

The likes of political violence, social unrest, violence and the impact of climate change were all taken into account.

Countries have been giving a rate based on how dangerous they apparently are, with 'extremely' the most harsh label dished out.

Such labels have been pinpointed on the likes of Libya, South Sudan, Syria, Ukraine and Iraq, where of course wars are taking place.

Meanwhile, ‘new and evolving conflicts’ in Gaza, Lebanon and Russia saw their risk level increase this year.

Obviously, countries that are essentially war zones are expected to be high on the dangerous list - but is not just war-torn countries that Brits should probably be avoiding in 2024.

The International SOS, the company behind the map, said it was "seeing a rising trend in the number of climate-related alerts being issued to clients as rising global temperatures are increasing health risks around the world."

With this in mind, the likes of Turkey, which is a very popular holiday destination amongst Brits, was found to be at a 'medium' level of risk.

The likes of Egypt, Thailand, Vietnam and Dominican Republic have also increased to the same level ahead of the 2024 holiday season.
