Plane passenger praised for refusing to swap seats with woman as she should have paid 'extra for specific seats'

A plane passenger has been praised online after they put their foot down and refused to swap the seats they paid for with a woman and her baby.

In recent times, it seems as if plane etiquette has gone right out the window - from passengers pretending to be vegetarian so they can get a better meal to people joining the 'mile high club' with complete strangers, it's safe to say the world has gone mad!

But when it comes to seat etiquette, you'd think people would just sit in their allocated seats and get on with their journeys, right?

Wrong!

It seems as if certain people expect better treatment when it comes to the comfort of their journeys, and one irritated passenger decided to take to Reddit to vent about a rather unpleasant experience they had recently with a woman and her baby.

The passenger, presumably from the US, explained on the forum site how they had boarded a flight from JFK to TLV and had paid for 'bulkhead comfort plus' on a Delta Air Lines flight.

"Before I can get my bag overhead a woman comes up to let me know I took the seat that allows a bassinet and asked if I could please trade with her," they explained.

While the passenger took a few seconds to get their head around what was going on, they claimed the mother 'aggressively' let them know how unfair it was on her and her baby for them to have that seat and the extra space.

The mother then apparently said 'they both would be unable to sleep during the flight'.

"I asked her where she was and it’s several rows back and not a window seat then I was just like 'No thank you I paid extra for this specific seat'," the passenger wrote.

"She was super upset with me…. really thankful for the stranger next to me who said, 'it’s your seat, you paid for it, it’s ok'."

The passenger concluded their vent with: "I feel bad because the bassinet can only work for specific seats but also it’s 11 hours and I’ve already flown 6 hours today."

Well, it seems as if the passenger has nothing to worry about as fellow Redditors were certainly on their side, with one saying: "If that seat meant that much to her, she should have booked a different flight with that seat available instead of assuming that she could swindle a passenger."

While another said: "I hate people that try to inconvenience others just because they have kids."

And someone else added: "You bought the seat you wanted and she did not. Don’t feel bad."
