Cadbury admits major change to Heroes after apologising to customer complaint

The confectionery company held its hands up and confessed that there had been a change to Heroes tubs

Cadbury has confessed it has made a major change to its Heroes tubs after apologising to a customer who complained.

Fans of the confectionery company have grown up munching on the bite size treats over the Christmas period - so they're pretty sure of what's inside.

Heroes haven't earned that name for nothing - it's because the purple tubs are made up of some of the nation's favourite chocolates.

Fun fact, they're known as 'Favourites' in Australia and New Zealand. Just doesn't have the same ring to it though, does it?

Dairy Milk, Dairy Milk Caramel, Twirl, Wispa, Eclair, Dinky Decker, Crunchie, Fudge and Creme Egg Twisted are all part of the much-loved miniature line-up.

There's nothing quite like the British custom of rummaging through the box while watching a festive film. Sheer bliss.

So you can imagine the confusion this Cadbury's customer felt when they noticed one chocolate had grown drastically in size.

A Brit took to Twitter, now known as X, to complain to the confectioner after finding the mini Twirls were anything but bite-size.

He wrote: "We bought a box of Cadbury Heroes and were shocked to see full size twirls included. What’s the craic?

"Looks like they ran out of the hero size and chucked in two twirls. It’s not what I bought or ordered."

He shared a snap of his Heroes tub, which had two individual Twirl sticks inside instead of the little ones.

Cadbury's quickly came clean about the inconsistency and revealed a 'small percentage' of shoppers would be affected.

It replied: "We’re sorry to hear you are not happy with this change.

"Due to supply chain issues, in a small percentage of Heroes tubs we have temporarily substituted bitesize Cadbury Twirl to the slightly larger Cadbury Twirl 21g.

Big Twirls have invaded the selection of miniature treats.

"This means you will still have the same amount of chocolate to enjoy in every tub!"

I mean, I'm not one to look a gift horse in the mouth.

A similar issue with the Twirl supply chain arose this time last year.

Customers were also compensated with two single sticks of 21g chocolate rather than the teeny weeny bites were used to.

Who knew Twirls were such hot property?

They are the ideal treat to reach for to be fair, and each one only contains 114kcal. Watch out for the sugar though, as each finger contains 12g.

But hey, if you don't put on a few pounds over Christmas, are you even doing it properly?
