Earlier this year, Robert 'Iron Man' Downey Jr of the Marvel Universe announced the launch of Footprint Coalition, a company aimed at using robots and nanotechnology to help save the planet.
Now it seems superheroes of the DC universe are joining the fight with Jason Momoa aka Aquaman, delivering a powerful speech to the UN General Assembly, urging nations of the world to take action against the climate crisis.
The Hawaiian-born star, who is of Native Hawaiian descent, spoke on behalf of the island nations of the world that are 'drowning' due to rising sea levels and increasing environmental catastrophes.

Momoa's heartfelt speech demanded a review of the progress made by the SAMOA Pathway, a UN program that began in 2014 aiming to combat environmental concerns impacting small islands and developing countries.
Momoa said: "Island nations contribute the least to this disaster, but are made to suffer the weight of its consequences. Our governments and corporate entities have known for decades that immediate change is needed. Yet change still has not come."
Momoa shared a video of his UN address, damning humans as the "only species willing to force disharmony with the natural balance of our world."
Momoa has spoken out about about the dangers of climate change and deteriorating ocean health on several occasions.

Last month, he used his social media power to help promote awareness around the fires devastating the Amazon rainforest to his 13+ million Instagram followers.
