Simon Pegg and Nick Frost tease sequel to The World’s End

Simon Pegg and Nick Frost teamed up to write and star in Shaun of the Dead (2004), Hot Fuzz (2007), and The World's End (2013)

Simon Pegg and Nick Frost have teased a sequel to The World’s End – the third instalment of their beloved Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy.

The pair teamed up to write and star in Shaun of the Dead (2004), Hot Fuzz (2007), and The World's End (2013), all of which were directed by pal Edgar Wright.

Back in 2020, Pegg told us he planned on making another film with Frost and Wright, saying at a press event for the launch of his Amazon Prime series Truth Seekers: "I mean, that's not a question, really.

"It's just that the question is when we can marshal our respective diaries and get the time to write a movie together."

But since then, we’ve not had much else by way of an update – until now, that is.

Yep, almost a decade after the release of their last collaboration, Pegg has hinted that something new could be in the works.

Posting the poster for The World’s End on Instagram, Pegg wrote: “Hard to believe it’s nine years since we were shooting The World’s End. Hey @friedgold and @edgarwright, it’s about time we assembled again, isn’t it?”

Frost commented: “Hell yeah!!! (I’m free from September!)”

Wright also chipped in on the post, joking: “New number. Who dis?”

Even This is England star Thomas Turgoose got involved, begging the trio to ‘please assemble’ - and even promising to ‘come and be the tea boy’ if they did.

Pegg’s most recent writing credit was for Truth Seekers, which tells the story of a group of amateur paranormal investigators who travel the UK checking out spooky goings-on and sharing their findings online.

However, as the series progresses, they start to discover that there is more to what they're seeing than just the supernatural, and uncover a potentially earth-shattering conspiracy.

At the time of its release, he also told LADbible that he shares a very special ‘fraternal relationship’ he has with Frost.

"We've been friends since we were [in our] early 20s and we are kind of like brothers, that's how our relationship has been,” he said.

"As we've got older and got married and had children and stuff, our lives have diverged.

"We live in different parts of the world now, and we speak a lot, but we don't see each other that much - only when we're in the office or when we're working together.

"We create the work so we can hang out with each other, because otherwise there just isn't the chance to, with life and everything."

When asked if any new project with Frost and Wright would be a second Shaun of the Dead film, he added: "Why on earth would we do that?"
