What time does House of the Dragon drop in Australia today? Where can I watch it?

The Game of the Thrones prequel series is set to be your next TV obsession.

Four years after Game of Thrones’ final episode was released, fans of the franchise are finally getting a new show on HBO. House of the Dragon is set roughly 200 years before Game of Thrones and is based on George R.R. Martin's Fire & Blood novel, which focuses on a tumultuous time in House Targaryen’s history.

It’s set to chronicle the beginning of the end for the dynasty and showcase events leading up to the Dance of the Dragons, a bloody civil war.

A new book about the Targaryens, The Rise of the Dragon, is also coming out this October.

House of the Dragon premieres in Australia on Monday 22 August, 2022 at 11am.

Episodes will come out weekly on Mondays.

Season one of the series will consist of 10 episodes.

Though just like Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon is an original HBO production. Australians can also watch it on Foxtel, Foxtel Now and BINGE.

Episodes air Mondays at 11am on Fox Showcase, with multiple replays scheduled throughout the day.

Additionally, you can watch the show on demand.

BINGE also offers a 14-day free trial for first-time users, with which you can check out the premiere of House of the Dragon online for free.

All seasons of Game of Thrones are also streaming on Fox and BINGE as well, for those who need a refresher.

However, fans say background knowledge on Game of Thrones isn’t necessary to watch the new series, given that it’s a prequel.
