Unwelcome: Plot, Cast, Release Date and Trailer

Brand new horror movie set to be released around Halloween has just dropped a trailer giving us insight as to what might happen in the film

If you’re a horror folk-tale fanatic, you’ll not want not to miss Warner Bros UK latest film, Unwelcome. With Halloween just round the corner, our desire for all things spooky will be pleasantly satisfied with this spine-chilling thriller.

Unwelcome Plot:

Based on an Irish superstition, an expecting couple escapes the hustle and bustle of the city and settles in the tranquil scenery of rural Ireland. Yet, luring at the foot of their new garden is an ancient wood which holds mysterious beings called Redcaps – a murderous breed of goblin who are known for soaking their caps into their victim’s blood. The heavily pregnant Maya is soon targeted by the goblins after forgetting to feed them – so, when the Redcaps come out when called to help souls in need of rescue, there is always a price to pay for their aid. What will that price be?

Unwelcome Cast:

This enticing synopsis is carefully executed by its talented cast. Playing the English couple seeking to find peace in Ireland, yet rather discover the opposite, are Douglas Booth, who starred in Romeo and Juliet (2013) and Loving Vincent (2017, and Hannah John-Kamen, who appeared in Ant-Man (2018) and The Stranger (2020). They are accompanied by other star-listed actors such as Colm Meaney, Jamie-Lee O’Donnell, who plays Michelle in Derry Girls, and Kristian Nairn. It is no doubt this movie will be executed with perfection.

Unwelcome is directed by the Irish filmmaker, Jon Wright, and co-written by Wright and screenwriter, Mark Stay, who are not new to bringing fantasy creatures to life. They wrote Tormented (2009) and Grabbers (2012), which display ghosts and aliens tormenting their victims. Horror movies are their specialty. Jon Wright specifically intertwined his Irish heritage and interest in mythical creatures, where he spoke to Empire admitting that he has ‘always been fascinated by myths and legends, and the sort of primal way that they tap into human nature’.

Unwelcome Release Date:

The movie is scheduled to be released in cinemas on the 28th of October 2022.

Unwelcome Trailer:

I recommend watching this in a bright room with company, unless you’re not fazed by blood-curdling goblins on the hunt for human flesh.
