Weakest Link viewers 'can't believe their ears' at Helen Flanagan's answer to obvious question

Weakest Link viewers 'can't believe their ears' at Helen Flanagan's answer to obvious question

People were pretty gobsmacked

It's not uncommon to suffer from stage fright, but people were left seriously baffled when actor Helen Flanagan answered an 'obvious' question incorrectly on Weakest Link.

The question was so easy that people were convinced she must have been nervous.

The former Coronation Street star, 33, appeared on the show with Loose Women's Kaye Adams, JLS singer JB Gill, comedian Jen Brister, actor Davood Ghadami, actor Adam Pearson, singer Toyah Willcox and comedian Ivo Graham.

The show was for charity, with celebs donating winnings to different causes.

But Helen didn't get off to a very promising start when host Romesh Ranganathan asked her a very straightforward question.

Romesh asked whether the White Cliffs of Dover were made of chalk, or cheese.

And while the answer is glaringly obvious, Helen answered 'cheese', which amused just about everyone.

One person at home wrote on X: "What about her other two questions that she couldn't answer? The scary thing is the future of the world is in the hands of this upcoming generation."

While another said: "Saw this live as it happened and couldn't believe my ears."

And a third added: "FFS i'm watching the Weakest Link & the question to Helen Flanagan is, are the White Cliffs of Dover made of chalk or cheese i'll let you guess what she said!"

Meanwhile a fourth commented: "This really was mind blowing television last night.

"Is it any wonder every other contestant voted Helen Flanagan off."

"Helen Flanagan thinks the white cliffs of Dover are made of cheese WTAF," wrote a fifth.

Unfortunately, Helen's answers didn't improve but she did manage to bank just £50.

It wasn't enough for her fellow contestants, however, and she was kicked off in the first elimination.

"I was very shocked that I was voted the weakest link. It's quite terrifying, the pressure, and you've got to think quick," she said.

"I have had fun, I wanted to stay longer. I actually did try but I was out of my depth.

"D'you know what it was? It was the pressure. To be fair, I think I got really difficult questions. All I heard was Dover, and I thought, Dover, Cornwall kind of thing, Cornish, so I just went 'cheese'."

Ironically, Helen also appeared on Celebrity Pointless later in the evening and actually managed to make it to the final.

The Weakest Link airs Saturdays at 7.50pm on BBC One
