Channel 4's Top Boy was dead in the water after two seasons - that was until Drake 'flipped a switch, flip flip'.

Before we get into it, the new season is actually being labelled as 'season three' by Netflix, but there has in fact been a total of five seasons of Toy Boy.

The first two seasons launched on Channel 4 first, in 2011 and 2013, and after it was cancelled, a further two seasons came out on Netflix in 2019 and 2022.
So, season five - the last ever season of Top Boy - dropped on Thursday (7 September) and fans have already binge-watched all six episodes.
Even though some viewers are calling the season finale a 'train wreck', they should probably be grateful to be watching it in the first place.
The resurrection of the cult show all started in 2014 when Canadian rapper Drake took to Instagram to rave about Top Boy to millions of his followers.

After posting an image of Ashley Walters, who plays Dushane Hill, on Insta, the actor helped Drake set up a meeting with Top Boy's creator Ronan Bennett, to discuss a plan.
"It's thanks to Drake, primarily, that we're back," Bennett said.
He does know how to make a Hotline Bling to be fair.
"At first it was kind of, just for me, I was like - I need this back. But then I realised how much it meant to so many people," the '6 God' told Netflix at the premiere of the show's revival.

Despite Drake being named as an executive producer in the credits, it has not been specified what his role actually entails.
Actor Michael Ward told Cosmopolitan that Drake's most hands-on job was promoting the show to new audiences.
For those who are yet to watch Toy Boy, the show delves deep into the dangerous world of drug dealing and the lives of those who live in the fictional East London estate of Summerhouse.

"Sully’s actions at the end of the last series have rewritten his business rules with Dushane," reads an official synopsis for the latest and last season.
"As new shared problems arise, everything they've built comes under threat from forces outside and within their empire.
"Can they coexist by the rules of the road they’ve lived by their whole lives in a world that is changing before them? Or can there only be one TOP BOY?"
The cast includes Ashley Walters (Dushane Hill), Kane Robinson (Gerard 'Sully' Sullivan), Simbiatu Ajikawo AKA ‘Little Simz’ (Shelley), Jasmine Jobson (Jacqueline 'Jaq' Lawrence) and Araloyin Oshunremi (Stefan Tovell).
