Deal or No Deal contestant who said he will die soon gives emotional health update

Deal or No Deal contestant who said he will die soon gives emotional health update

Deal or No Deal contestant Brad Wale emotionally revealed on the show that doesn't have long left.

Deal or No Deal contestant Brad Wale has provided an emotional health update after revealing his heartbreaking terminal health diagnosis on the show.

Stephen Mulhern took over hosting privileges for the ITV reboot as the first episode aired last month (20 November).

Ten days after the relaunch, viewers were stunned after the Wolverhampton-born contestant bravely revealed that he has Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

MND is a very uncommon condition that affects the brain and the nerves, and gradually causes weakness as it worsens over time, according to the NHS.

During last month's episode, Brad revealed that he wanted to win some cash so that he could attempt to fulfil his bucket list and leave some money for his family when he passes.

"Last year, things changed quite a lot for me really, I was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease,” he said.

“I never cry when I talk about it normally… So the prognosis isn’t really that great.

"So I’d put it towards my bucket list, go and see different places around the world, and give my family and partner some money before… yeah."

Unfortunately for Brad - who now lives in Bridgnorth, Shropshire - he ended up waving farewell to Deal Or No Deal with just £5 in his back pocket.

Obviously moved by Brad’s story, fellow contestant Rochelle Brown decided to set up a GoFundMe Page to raise funds.

Writing on the fundraiser, Rochelle said: “Hi! I’m Rochelle, Brad’s friend from Deal or No Deal.

"I’m sure you all saw Brad’s devastating game on Deal or No Deal. His DOND family really want him to fulfil his dreams and we have set this up on the hope that anyone could maybe spare a couple of pounds and get Brad to tick some bits off his bucket list.”

At the time of writing, a staggering £79,164 has been raised from a £20,000 target.

After receiving an outpour of support from fans, Brad appeared on Good Morning Britain today (6 December) to issue an emotional health update.

Speaking to hosts Susanna Reid and Ed Balls, Brad said: “It’s been a really long progress getting the diagnosis. It wasn’t until very recently.

“It sounds silly, but when I was told that for the first time it was almost a relief. I get cramping in my hands, cramping in my feet. I’m not able to walk much at all anymore.

“I’ve been having speech therapy on speech, and that’s got a bit better. But I’m really tired, that still goes.”

Brad explained: "I just have to have lots of adaptions and stuff these days to kind of do life. But I'm a big believer in positivity and I think as long as I stay positive, I can fight it all the way."
