Sam Smith gets roasted after they claimed people think they are Adele in drag

The non-binary singer made the shocking claim while revealing the craziest rumour they've ever heard about themselves.

Sam Smith has been mocked after claiming some people believe they’re Adele in drag.

Yes, you read that correctly.

During an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, the Charlie’s Angels actor asked the non-binary singer, who uses they/them pronouns, what’s the craziest rumour they’ve heard about themselves.

Smith replied: “Everyone seems to think that I’m Adele..I’m drag.”

I would love to meet these people.

They added: “We’ve never been seen in the same room together, and if you slow down her voice, it sounds maybe a bit like mine.

"So people think that we’re the same person, and I’m just in drag right now.”

However, the internet was sceptical of these claims, to say the least.

One person wrote: “WHO IS EVERYONE.”

Another said: “Sam literally no one thinks your Adele.”

A third shared: “I would be offended if I were Adele.”

While another commented: “CRYING -- they look nothing alike, I love delusional celebs.”

Perhaps, it was wishful thinking? Just how everyone always gets me and Naomi Campbell mixed up. Honestly, it’s an easy mistake to make!

The singer is preparing for their Gloria tour, which is their fourth studio album set to be released on January 27.

Their tour will kick off in April in Sheffield before they head to multiple cities across the UK, the US and Australasia.

Hopefully, there'll be some special guest appearances too; maybe even Adele might pop in to say 'hello' to her twin.

Gloria is also the name of one of their new tracks on the LP, which Smith described as a ‘queer love hymn’, in a statement, as per Rolling Stone.

They said: “My queer love hymn, saying life is a song to Gloria, the thing I can’t put a word to. I don’t know if it’s nature or a feminine energy inside me that I’m setting free.”

According to the outlet, Smith previously wrote that it’s been ‘overwhelming and emotional’ leading up to the release of their first album since 2020’s Love Goes.

They added: “It has been magical in every way to make this piece of music, and by giving this record to you, I am giving you part of my heart and soul."
